More than one-half of the population increase for the state in the period between 1940 and 1950 was c o n c e n t r a t e d in Cook county. They suffered cuts and bruises and were treated by a Richmond physician. A car driven by Stanley Pollitt of Rt. 6, McHenry, was struck in the rear, by another car driven by Victor R. Nowicki, also of Rt. 6, when his car skidded on the slippery pavement at the intersection of Rt. 120 and Johnsburg road. The accident occurred about 8:30 on the evening of March 16 when Pollitt, east-bound on Rt. 120,. attempted to make a left turn. The Nowicki car, which was following, sthick the Pollitt auto in the i;ear. An accident Sunday morning resulted in injuries to' three, including the driver. Otto Wolff of rural McHenry was driving south on Johnsburg road and because of the dense fog failed to see the stop sign. His car skidded 145 feet across Rt. 120 at the intersection, struck a sign post and high line wire, proceeding into a field about sixty feet. Injured besides the driver were Mrs. Ethel Wolff and Mrs. Eleanor Brusso. Mrs. Wolff was treated for injuries at McHenry hospital. Three persons received injuries on the afternoon of March 16 on Rt. 14, a mile north of Highway 176. Included was Harold Galvin of Rt. 3, McHenry, who was. taken to Memorial hospital; ^Voodstock, for treatment. Poor visibility was reported by state police to have prevented a Minnesota truck driver from seeing the Galvin auto, which slowed odwn on the highway. The accident occurred during the snow stornri. WILLIAM BOUYV Members of the-Alliance Bible church are busy with plans for the spring missionary convention starting March 31 and continuing through April 3. The convention will .feature two outstanding missionaries, Rev. Marc Volstad, who has served in. Peru, and Rev. William Bouw, wtiose field; of service has been Borneo. Rev. Volstad has been an active missionary for the past twenty-seven years, having served five terms in Peru, S.A. He has climbed the heights of the Peruvian mountain trails to tell the Indians the gospel story. Among the jungle Indians of the lowlands, he found less fanaticism but much indifference. Rev. Volstad will be at the church March 31. ' A district of 60,000 inhabitants with absolutely no roads or automobiles was the remote region in East Borneo that was the parish of Rev. William M. Bouw, missionary of the Christian and Missionary Alliance since 1950. During his first term he witnessed the establishment of fourteen new churches and the baptism of over 800 new converts.
