"When a Feller Needs a Friend" Last week at the time of our b e r e a v e m e n t -- o u r e n t i r e family, the Olsens, Schultzes, and Levesques -- needed the comfort of our friends and we trufi^received it! At the last meeting of the president and trustees held on Monday, March 14, in the beachhouse, - a motion Was made and passed to Conduct a soil survey on Orchard drive before the actual work commences. This procedure was recommended by our engineers, W. A. Rakow Associates, to prevent any breakage of the road the first winter. Road commissioner, Don Parenti, also, reported that two new street signs have been purchased. A resolution was adopted by the trustees to extend our arterial streets and Lake Shore drive from Orchard drive to a point 350 feet east of Clover Hill drive was so designated. McHenry's city planning was discussed and a map of our village will be forwarded to that city, so the boundaries will be definitely established, and prevent any chance of future overlapping. ELMA GILKERSQN Funreal rites for Mrs. Elma Gilkerson, 62, a former McHenry resident, were held Saturday afternoon from the Warner funeral home in Crystal Lake, with Rev. M. J. A. Dalrymple officiating. Burial was in McHenry County Memorial Park cemetery. Mrs. Gilkerson, who resided with a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Jones, in Crystal Lake, died on the afternoon of March 16 in McHenry hospital after several months of ailing health. The deceased was born July 20, 1897, and was married in Marengo April 8, 1916 to Earl Gilkerson. They had resided in the county for twenty-six years, eight of these in Crystal Lake. Besides the widower, she is survived by a daughter and a son, Mrs. Barbara Jones and E. Carney Gilkerson, both of Crystal Lake; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Two brothers, Clifford and Glenn Carney, and a sister, Flossie Meuser, preceded her in death.
