June 6. ^ The Sea Explorers left May 27 on a four day fishing trip to Lake Kegonsha, Wis. The boys who earned the trip on the merit system, with hard work during the year, were Milton Crosdale, Jr.,. Ralph Mueller. Hugh Peo, Jimmy Messel and Ricky Hauck. Skipper Ed Pfingsten,aided by Milton Crosdale, Sr.. and Ted linger, enjoyed the fishing trip W^ery much. Sewing Guild Luncheon June 2, Gertrude Snell was hostess for t}ie monthly luncheon of the sewing guild unit of the Woman's auxiliary to the McHenry hospital. Kay Sielisch acted as Gert's co-hostess. Cert arid Kay served open ; faced sandwiches, strawberry ..M»uffs and coffee. The guests were the mesdames Marian Carlson. Mae Siadek. News of Your Friends and Neighbors We are happy to report that Walter Peloquin is making a speedy recovery after his recent major surgery at St. Therese hospital. Wally Sielisch has been having a rough time with bursitis in both shoulders and will be taking it easy for a spell. Among the folks who attended the pot-luck dinner for the choral group at the McHenry high. May 19, were Bill and Marie Schliek. Mr. and Mrs, Kenneth Merley and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Novak. Walter and Jane Peloquin received word from their son, Jim, in the Navy that he is Shoving off for a six weeks cruise to the far'East. The Peloquins *are counting the days until November when Jim's hitch is up and he will return to civilian life. Highlander Attends Ordination of Brother Mrs. Joan Kennebeck was thrilled and proud Saturday, May 21, as she watched her brother ordained at St. Mary's in Mchenry. Her daughter. Mary <To, acted as the bride for her uncle, her two sons. Butch and Roch, acted as pages for the beautiful and impressive ceremony. After the services Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kennebeck and the family rWre guests at the Bishop's dinner. Joan says that it was the biggest thrill she ever had seeing her brother ordained the Reverend Father James Weber. The Kennebecks were Jn attendance when Father^fiVeber said his first Mass. Home and School Association News May 23, the. St. John's Home find School association met at the school gym. Mrs. Richard Fredrick of Sunnyside was reelected for another term as president of the association. TW sixth, seventh and eighth grade pupils gave a musical program for the members, along with a skit, which every one enjoyed very much. Father Anger gave a brief talk to the parents reminding them of their duty to see to it that the children receive the Sacraments during the summer vacation. The association is planning to have boot racks built in the hall for winter use. Mama Audrey caught up on some lost sleep while he was gone. Dick and Haze Morley attended a wake in Waukegan on May 23. The father of Dick's brother-in-law- passed away suddenly at Victory Memorial hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Corcoran have returned home from their vacation. The Reilly and Thoren families had a picnic together on Memorial Day. The Conways, Morleys and Masons got together on Memorial. Day at the Masons' home for a picnic. Pat and Roger Rogde were out visiting their family on Memorial Day. Our best wishes to Bob Hurckes in his new business adventure. Happy birthday to Susie Thelen who just turned 6. She had a party on May 25 with her friends. We are sorry to report that Hazel Rogde hasn't been feeling too good.
