Aursday, July 7, 1960 THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER ANNIVERSARY * IS MARKED BY CELEBRATION <r A recent celebration at Chapel Hill Count ry club marked the observance of the r Silrer wedding anniversary "'of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard A. Freund of Johnsburg. who have lived their entire married life on the Freund home farm. Present for dinner were 100 relatives and close friends, with seventy-five more joining open house festivities which featured a mock wedding and dancing. ! All members of the original ing party were among rose present. They were Florce Smith of Richmond, Leonjr& Thennes and Viola Then- Ijes Justen of McHenry, Regina Rlein Michels of Johnsburg and Steve Schmitt of Elkhorn; Wis. 1 Bernard A. Freund and Anita Schaefer were married at St. John the Baptist church by Fi\ Vollman in 1935 Whe presence of their four children made celebration of the anniversary a complete success. They are Arnold of Champaign, Kathleen at home, Lambert, a June M.C.H.S. graduate who will join his older brother at the University of Illinois next fall, and Neil, a student at Salvatorian seminary, St. Nazianz, Wis. Memorial Hospital Patients in Memorial hospital, Woodstock, this past week included Thomas Adams. Joyce Schwanke, Dolores- Sokolowski, Audrey Pinkonsly and Byron McAnsh of McHenry; Charles Caley and Millie Schubert of winder Lake. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Sand and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Justen and son, Jerry, of Waukegan, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph H. Justen, daughter, fifclly. and son, Tom, spent the Fourth of July holiday with their mother, Mrs. Michael M. Justen. Mrs. Gene Hammershov and children, Rosalind and Richard, spent six days visiting her father, Leon Andrews, in Bangar, Mich. Mrs. Hammershoy's mother, Mrs. Leon Andrews, is recovering from sUrgery at Passavant hospital, Chicago, ftta. Hammershoy's sisters and their families also visited there. Miss Constaijce Lee Karlic. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Leo Karlic of Holiday Hills, became the bride of Mr. Gerald Raymond Grasser, son of Mr. and Mrs Raymond Joseph Grasser of Ingleside in a pretty wedding which took place last Saturday, "July'2, at St. Patrick's church, McHenry. Rev. Eugene Parker officiated at the 11 o'clock service. The bride approached the altar, lovely in a floor length gown of net and satin, with lace ruffles edging the skirt, extending into a short train similarly trimmed. She had a crown headpiece to which was attached a fingertip veil. Miss Patricia Malewig of Chicago acted as maid of honor and Miss Carol Ann Karlic of Holiday Hills was bridesmaid. Little Mary Katherine DeSmet of Chicago was the pretty flower girl. The attendants had while chiffon dresses with blue satin cummerbunds, and hats of blue satin with matching veils. William Scheelk of Chicago s e r v e d a s b e s t m a n a n d groomsman was Walter Karlic, Jr., of Chicago. Charles Grasser of Inglesioe was ring bearer. Mrs. Karlic selected a black and white chiffon dress and white accessories for the wedding. At the reception she wore T poudre blue lace dress. Mrs. Grasser was attired in a light b'ue dress and white accessories. A breakfast was served at 12:30 o'clock at the bride's home for forty members of the bridal families and immediate families. In the evening, 150 guest's attended a reception at the V.F.W. clubhouse in Chicago, The ncwlyweds left on a trip 'o the Wisconsin Dells for five days, and upon their return will reside at 101 Sunset, Holiday Hills subdivision. . Both the bride and groom are employed by the Jewel Tea company of Barrington. MAIL WHEAT CARDS Walter Austin, office manager of the McHenry County ASC office, said that the 1960 wheat marketing cards have been mailed to eligible farmers. Mr. Austin further advised that if any eligible farmer does not receive his card within a reasonable, length of time he should contact the ASC office at llO's East Jackson street, Woodstock. THERESA LISHAMER Mrs. Theresa Lishamer, 82, died unexpectedly Thursday evening, June 30, in her home in Oakland subdivision, • near Johnsburg. She had remained well and active until the time of her death. She was born in Bohemia June 26, 1878, and had made her home in this community for twenty-six years. Mrs. Lishamer was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, McHenry chapter. Her husband, Anton, preceded her in death in i958. She is survived by a son, Irving, of McHenry, t w o grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body rested at the George Justen & Son funeral home until ' Saturday at 1 o'clock, when Rev. George Martin officiated at last rites; Burial was private. - J WALTER A. KNIGHTEN Walter A. Knighten of Lilymoor died Friday, July 1, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at McHenry hospital, where he had been a patient for one day. He had been in poor health for three years. The deceased, 49 years old, was born in Jonesboro, La., Aug. 26, 1910. Prior to his illness, he operated a grocery store in West Monroe, La. For the past year, Mr. Knighten had been living with a brother, ^ James, at Lilymoor. He is also survived by ani other brother, Joseph, of Loui- ! siana, six nephews and five j nieces. The body rested.at the Peter 1M. Justen funeral home until 12 o'clock Tuesday, afternoon, ' when Rev. George Martin of : the Methodist church officiat- I ed at last rites.
