Pag* Twelve McHENRY PLAINDEALER Thursday/August 4. 1960 Holiday Hills WOMAN'S CLUB HOLDS REGULAR MEETING AUG. 10 Rita Oleyar - EV. 6-4768 Sally Lubke The regular monthly meeting of the Holiday Hills Woman's club will be held Wednesday evening. Aug. 10, at St. John's Lutheran church in Island Lake. The time . is eight o'clock. The program will feature a demonstration on making gift items with straw. The club presents one demonstration a year, to help the organization financially and to enable the members to learn something new in handcrafts. These demonstrations are always interesting and informative, so plan to attend. Residence, a home for elderly retired men and women,' Friday morning. July 22. According to Mrs. Bemis. the inmates of the home greatly appreciate these visits, and any woman who takes the time to' spend a few hours there will find it rewarding, both to herself and the old people. It is not necessary to be talented in any way to do this work. All it takes is an ability to carry on a conversation with a lonely man or woman for a short time. Sometimes automobile or wheel-chair rides are arranged. Anyone who is interested in this please call Mrs. Bemis at EV. 5-4443. Picnic Reminder The community family picnic, sponsored by the P.O.A. will be held Sunday, Aug. 14. at one o'clock at Shady Shores picnic grove. Bring your own picnic lunch, drinks and ice cream will be furnished by the committee. In Mnndelein Wedding Party Joe and Connie Catanzaro served as best man and matron of honor when Joe's brother, Charles, was married to Beautta Erickson in a ceremony performed at the Church of Santa Maria de Populo in Mundelein. The nuptial mass was celebrated at 11 o'clock on Saturday. July 23. A reception followed immediately afterward in the V.F.W. hall in Libertyvillc. Connie and Joe live on Hyde Park avenue with their four daughters. They have lived in Holiday Hills almost five years. Nancy Harper Celebrates Birthday Nanoy Harper, youngest child of Phyllis and Jim. was two on Friday. July 22. and her mother arranged a quickie birthday party to mark the occasion. In attendance were the Hagestedt children, the White youngsters. Susie Landis, and Scotty Musolf. Lost and Found Department Jack Bodenheim decided to go diving off the raft with his glasses on. and lost them in the deep water in that vicinity. He proceeded to look for them with his wife's sunglasses on, and lost them too. Anyone finding a pair of glasses in the water at the lake please get in touch with Jack. Demonstration Well Attended Thirty women attended the demonstration sponsored by Virginia Mroz on Tuesday evening, July 26 in her home on Lilac street. It was the first time in anyone's memory that thirty girls were invited to a demonstration and thirty girls showed up! The evening was warm, but the refreshments were cool, and everyone present enjoyed herself. Dean Heise Undergoes Surgery Dean, seven-year-old son of Eunice and Chuck Heise of Sunset drive, underwent surgery for corfettion "6f TTigtfAfa at MoHenry hospital on Moncjefy, July 25. Eunice reports that the whole family is proud of Dean's behavior throughout the ordeal, presenting no problems in the operating room or elsewhere in the hospital. The boy came home on Wednesday and is recovering- quite rapidly. Dean will go into the second grade at Edgebrook this fall. Adult Swimming Class Begins The swimming instruction sponsored by the Woman's club for the children has proved to be such a success that a few of the mothers have asked Miss McKaige, the instructpr, to hold a class for adults at 12 o'clock, following the class for the smallest children. Some of the mothers have been enrolled with the children. but it was felt that they could make greater progress in a class of their own. This is a good opportunity for some of our women who have wanted to learn to swim properly to make some real progress. The classes are held Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the lake beach. New Family Here for Summer Summertime res i d e n t s of Holidaj^JHUls are the Mitchell D?ialo family of 29 Lakeview drive. Mitchell and his wife. Lorraine, own and operate their own business in Chicago, and have been in their new home here for weekends and through the week for the s\yimming classes. The family, which includes daughters, Doreen. eight, and Michelle, five, plan to be permanent residents when their home is completed. looTium Athletic Club Breakfast The Griswold Lake athletic club will sponsor a breakfast to be served on Sunday morning. Aug. 7, from 8 o'clock until 12. at Casey's picnic grove. Eggs, sausage, waffles, pancakes, toast, coffee, and milk will be featured on the menu.
