On Aug. 16 at St. Therese a 9 lb., 3 oz. boy was born to Don and Audrey Morin. The little fella was named Larry Donald and has two older brothers. Tommy and Dale: The other happy family is Bob and Dorothy Jenkins. Thmr welcomed their bundle in blue on Aug. 16 at the Woodstock hospital. Named John Mark, he weighed 7 lbs., 6 ozs. Weekend guests at Jack and Dot Erbin's home were Dot's parents. Mr. and Mrs, Scharak, and an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Ruud. They were out to help celebrate the birthdays of Dorothy and the two girls. Mr. and Mrs. Oi-ville Baker from Downers Grove were guests at Martin and Hazel Ride's home. Mr. * and Mrs. Healy have their granddaughter. Collene, spending some time visiting in the Highlands. I am pleased to report that Shelia SiJba is back home from the hospital again. Happy anniversary wishes to Bob and Lorraine Hurckes who will celebrate eleven years of wgided bliss on Aug. 27. Bobby Hurckes spent three days last week with his friend, Jesse Stamer, at Pistakee Bay. , Lorraine Lindeman had a surprise visit last week from Marie Horbach from Twin Lakes. Mrs. Horbach brought along her daughter and granddaughter and spent the day here. Mrs. Kent has sold her home oiWRand Drive and will leave in September to make her home in Hillside. 111. Janice and Jerry Janquart entertained their good friends Kay and Ed Sedlin from Oak Park last Wednesday evening. Happy sweet sixteen birthday wishes to Ricky Kauck. He will celebrate on Aug. 30. Mr. and Mrs. Remle and family took a trip recently to New York where they visited with their daughter. Last week Mr. Ristow, Lola DuPree and Jimmy Mclnerney attended a baseball game in Chicago. Tommy and Jimmy Hurckes spent two days last week with their grandparents Hurckes in Chicago. They went to a baseball game and visited Lincoln Park. They were back in time for the All Star game last Wednesday evening. Lorraine Lindeman had her daughter, Marilyn, visiting her from Lansing; 111. Her granddaughter, Susan, is staying here ten days while Marilyn and her hubby have their vacation in the North Woods in Wisconsin. Kay Sielisch spent four days in the McHenry hospital last week. She waB there for tests and observation. I really hope vou're feeeling better Kay. Happy birthday to Dot Er- ^in on Aug. 21. Leif Eide celebrated his birthday on Aug. 12. He had the day off from work so he and the Mrs. attended a baseball game in Milwaukee. Hila Heinemann spent last Thursday shopping in Chicago. I know all Steve and Geri Vrbik's friends and neighbors send their deepest sympathy to them both on the passing of Steve's dad in Chicago. Your reporter is sorry to say that a very bad cold has been keeping Janice Janquart feeling a bit under the weather. While Dot Jenkins was in the hospital, the home front was being well cared for by Bob's mother who came out from Chicago. Last Friday evening Pat Jackson, Dee Gregg, Audrey Misavice, Marie Schlick, Toots Spankuch, Meryl Fletcher and Ann Szyplebaum enjoyed a dinner and stage play at Marengo. Instead of the usual ,poker night they spent an evening "out on the town". Your reporter, hubby and boys put in a busy week, last week. First we spent two days ,out camping. We slept in the great (sort of sold) out doors, made our .coffee over a camp fire*and caught; - seme fish which we ate right there. Even the boys caught some small ones and they were thrilled. We did some picnicing and swimming at Twin Lakes and another day we visited a zoo. It was just a week but we packed as much into it as we could. Voters Registration In order to vote in the November election you must be a registered voter. You may do so at 112 N. Meadow Lane. Mrs. Robert VanZevern will be more than happy to take care of the matter for you. Dedicate New Building This Sunday, Aug, 28, the Johnsburg Rescue Squad will dedicate its new building. There will be a. paraded and open house at the ne"# building. We hope many of our residents will turn out to make this a memorable event for the men who serve us so well. Sunnyside Estates URGE MOTORISTS TO CONFORM WITH 20-MILE SPEED LAW Polly Stevens EV 5-1256 This column has repeatedly .asked motorists to conform with our speed limit. It is 20 M.P.H. as the signs plainly indicate. Now there seems to be a new element in speeding. I believe the expression is "peeling". Huge holes have been dug in'the roads by this fast acceleration. Our speed limit is for everyone -- visitors as well as residents. Women's Club Mrs. Ullo, president of the Women's club, is looking for women who would like to volunteer three and a half hours of their time on Sept. 9, 21 and 30. This is in connection with the mobile T.B. unit and anyone wishing further information can contact Mrs. Ullo. Style Show All the readers of this column are invited to attend St. Mary's P.T.A. style show and salad luncheon on Aug. 31 at 1 p.m. at the V.F.W. hall. Tickets will be available at the door. Little League The Yankees beat the All Stars in the minor little league game that was held last week. That is it again for another week. Bye now. DRUG PEDDLING Drug peddlers are turning to locally grown marihuana to countepact a shortage from Mexico. Gov. Stratton has ordered intensification of the drive against the drug. The eradication program is already by far the most comprehensive project of its kind ever undertaken in Illinois, according to John Cross, state superintendent of narcotic control. Three hundred and fortyseven acres of wild-growing marihuana has been Wiped out itn 34 separate areas throughout Illinois during the current season. Crass called upon landowners to inspect their property for marihuana and to stamp out any growths that may be farming by mowing or spraying with a Weed killer. Bake Sale Troop 144 of the Boy Scouts is holding a bake sale Saturday, Sept. 3, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The place to go to buy your baked goodies is the home of Donna and Ray Jensen at. 110 Grand view drive. Sunnyside Estates. The mothers of the Scouts are giving their lads a helping hand by doing the baking and any other donations of baked goods will be gratefully appreciated. Hospital Notes Kelly Noah has returned to work after undergoing surgery recently at McHenry hospital. We are glad everything "came out o.k.", Kelly. Vera Jean Schwieger, niece of June Banker and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Schwieger, entered McHenry hospital recently for surgery. While she was hospitalized her mother and sister. Mrs. Lorine Schwicger, and Donna stayed at the Banker home. Little two-year-old Candy Lasnek had to visit the doctor recently to have a smashed toe lanced. "No Cooking" Bernice and Earl Fry and their children, Sandy and Tommy, have been on a week's vacation. They spent much of their time in Chicago seeing the sights and visiting relatives. They visited the Museum of Natural History, Adler Planetarium and no trip would.be complete for the youngsters without a visit to an amusement park. Bernice said the very best part of the whole week was that she did absolutely no cooking. Vacationers Maiy and Red Davis are vacationing for two weeks. Mary is catching up on the million and one chores of a mother with five children and Red is painting the house. They have planned several outings and another trip to the zoo so Mark can see again the "hippopossum". Red is taking the three boys, Bill, Neal and Mark, pn an over-night camping trip to Wisconsin while Mary stays home with Monica and Maureen. Incidently, Mark is my very, very special 4-year-old boy-friend. A Trip to Michigan Marge and Louis DeFrancisco and their daughter, Pam, recently spent a week in Newaygo. Mich;, with Marge's sister and brother-in-lavjV Sarah and Frank Ellinger. Taking Sarah with them, they went on to Orchard Lake, Mich., to tfisit another sister and her husband, Edna and Rex Cleal. Rex and Louie did quite a bit of fishing while there. They caught some good ones and naturally, "let some big ones get away." They also visited other relatives in Pontiac and Detroit. A Sunday Visit Donna and Ray Jensen and Ray, Jr., drove to Oak Lawn last Sunday to visit Ray's sister and family, Lil and Bill Kauffman and children. They also greeted his mother, Lil Jensen, on her return from Canada and Michigan. Visitors Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Azzolina and daughter, Mary Jane, of Cleveland, Ohio, were recent visitors of Rose and Mike Tillich. They came to " f e t c h h o m e " t h e i r o t h e r daughter, Carolyn, who has been with the Tillichs the past two weeks. Sunday visitors while the Azzolinas were there were Tina and Mike Dobrina and children and Mary Dobrino. The three men formerly worked together and enjoyed talking over old times. They Passed The Lakowskies, Betty, Mary Jane and . Johnnie, can be very proud of themselves. They all passed their swimming tests and Mary Jane was chosen to demonstrate her floating skill in a water show at Antioch.
