Carl Lobitz officiating. Sponsors were Miss Faye Landis of Findlay, Ohio, a friend of the family, and Marvin Russell of Findlay, a cousin. A gathering was held later at the hdtife' of the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Orlo McMahon, at 604 Hunter Drive, Lakeland Park, for sixteen guests. Present were representatives of four generations the baby, her parents, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. McMahon and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Brod of McHenry Shores, and the great-grandmother, Mrs. Brod of Chicago. Others attending were Mrs. Marvin Russell and daughter, Christine, and Mrs. Earl Morrison of Findlay, Pastor and Mrs. Lobitz and Mr. and Mrs. E. Russell of Arlington Heights. For her daughter's wedding, Yacht Club Enjoys 1960 Commodores Ball The evening of Aug. 20 Pistakee Yacht club held its annual Commodores' ball. Commodore and Mrs. Robert Mielenz and past commodores, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ericsson, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond F. Waters, Mrs. James J. O'Connor, Mrs. Harry Hoff, and Mr. and Mrs. John Looze were honored at this annual dinner dance. Guests arrived at the beautifully decorated club at the cocktail hour to enjoy tempting hors d'oeuvres and music played by a strolling troubadour. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Peterson and their committee members; Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Partipilo, Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Pomierski, Dr. and Mrs. Alex Pomierski, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Peacock, Miss Clare Peterson. Miss Pam Rodgers, Armond Partipilo. Ken Bondi and Sid Peterson, Jr., served a delicious roast beef dinner to more than 150 members and guests. Miss Claudia Partipilo was in charge of the decorations. Dancing continued far into the evening and all agreed this was a truly memorable evening. " v Miss Verna Miller, daughter of Mrs. Lenora Miller of Spring Grove, became the bride of Mr. Dennis H. Schmitt, son of Mrs. Francos Schmitt of 104 E. John street, McHenry, in a wedding which took place in St. Peter's Catholic church, Spring Grove, Saturday, Aug. 20. Rev. Fr. Lehman officiated at the 10:30 o'clock rite. The bride was charming in a silk organdy dress, styled with embroidered bodice and sabrina neckline. A bottom duster flounce detailed the billowy skirt that fell into a chapel length sweep. She wore on her head a jewel-trimmed coronet crown. Attending her were Miss Jeanette Busch of Spring Grove as maid of honor and Mrs. Barbara Wagher of McHenry, Mrs. Sonia Miller of Spring Grove and Miss Nancy Weber of Johnsburg as bridesmaids. They were attired in pink, floor length dresses with white lace bodices and contrasting shade at the waist, billowing into a repeating shade of silk sheer over taffeta, with satin bows and streamers in back. They wore large, oi>en picture hats. Mrs. Nora Crane Busik and Mrs. John Anderson and daughters, Gisell and Leslie, of Chicago spent a few days last week with their grandmother, Mrs. A. J. Schneider. burnt apricot crepe, w i t h matching accessories, and wore a corsage of white stephanotis. The groom's mother wore blue lace, with matching accessories, and her corsage was also white stephanotis. Two hundred and fifty guests gathered at the Wing 'n Fin at 2 p.m. for the reception. During the day, many oi the relatives called at the bride's home to survey the newly purchased estate. The couple left' for a twoweek honeymoon in Georgian Bay, Canada. Upon their return they will reside at 211 Lake Shore Drive, McCullom Lake. The new Mrs. McMahon is a graduate of St. Mary's high school in Woodstock and Alverno college, Milwaukee. The groom's alma maters are Montana State college and Elgin Community college. He is now affiliated with the Phillip's Oil company in Elgin. About 400 guests gathered at the Johnsburg Community club hall for a reception, after which the newlyweds left on a trip to Canada and Niagara Falls. They will reside in McHenry. Both young people are graduates of the Richmond high school, she with the class of 1958 and he in 1957. The bride is employed by the State Bank of Richmond and the groom by Public Service in Crystal Lake. MISS JANE BLAKE LOVELY BRIDE OF JAMES P. BASTIAN Newlyweds A double ring nuptial ceremony last Saturday, Aug. 20, in St. Mary's .Catholic church, McHenry, united in marriage Miss Jane Blake, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Blake of Rt. 2, McHenry; and Mr. James Peter Bastian, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Bastian of Wonder Lake. Rev. Fr. Harold Nilges officiated at the service against a background of white glads on the altar. The girls' choir sang the nuptial Mass. Hie pretty bride was lovely in a silk organza and lace dress, princess style, with sabrina nefck'line, short sleeves,' a bow with late applique, and full gathers on the chapel length train. Her crown held a fingertip veil. Miss Blake carried a bouquet of white orchids with stephanotis and Amazon lilies. Mrs. Jean Thompson . acted as matron of honor for her twin sister, and Miss Marilyn Carey of Chicago, a friend, was bridesmaid. Linda Blake, a sister, was junior bridesmaid. All were attired in ice blue, embroidered. o r g a n z a dresses styled with scoop necklines, short sleeves, princess lines in front and full skirts with satin bows in back. They had large blue organza picture hats and carried colonial bouquets with pink rosebuds, surrounded by white glads. Ronald Vacula of Wonder Lake served the groom as best man and Wilfred Blake, Jr., and Lawrence Blake of McHenry were groomsmen. Mrs. Blake selected a blue Venice type lace sheath dress with a blue chiffon "midriff and back paifel. She had matching blue accessories and a pink carnation corsage. Mrs. Bastian wore a beige sheath dress with matching accessories, a pink flowered hat and white carnation corsage. A reception was held at noon at Hettermann's in Johnsburg for thirty guests, with a reception at 5:30 at the V.F.W. clubhouse for 150 guests. The couple left on a wedding trip to Wyoming and upon their return will" reside at 1419 W. Balmoral, Chicago. Both young people are 1956 graduates of the McHenry high school. The bride also graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Evanston and now works as a registered nurse. Also, on behalf of all the people involved in our Little League program I want to thank the McHenry Plaindealer for printing the baseball schedules and for their coverage of all our games this year. It certainly gave everyone a chance to keep up-to-date on his team's scores and standing from start to finish. Last, but not least, I want to say "thank you" to Tom Bolger for his interesting and informative column each week reporting all the happenings in the minor and major leagues this year. I realize the work and time involved and hope that he will resume this column again next Spring.
