This will be a 72 hole tournament using full handicaps on the holes where the strokes are indicated on the scorecard. There will be no qualifying round involved. The twoman teams were selected from the names signed on the bulletin board on or before Wednesday, Aug. 31. The 16 low handicap members wil! be paired with the 16 high handicap members by means of a drawing. As far as my memory serves me, I believe this is the first tournament of this type we have had T!H«rTr-Should prove to be a very interesting event. This is always true of tournaments played over a four week period, because anything can happen from week to week. An event oi this nature is very rarely "decided" after the first or second week's play. the final week of our Ringer tournament. Winners of that event will be announced next week. Lest we forget, or. in case you didn't know, here's a pat on the back to Lurayne Conway who placed third in the recent Cook County Women's Amateur golf tournament held at Gleneagles Country club. Lurayne, who has played many a fine round on our own course moved up from a sixth place position to finish third after four rounds of golf in the low 80's. Too late to mention our "Mother-Offspring" Tournament which is being held today (Thursday, Sept. 1). Let's hope we (had) a good turnout. See you next week.
