The meeting was called to order by acting president Fred Hauoold. The roll call of officers, minutes of last month's meeting and treasurer report were read. There was one correction in the minutes. Committee reports: D i c k Farwell reported on the dance that was held last Saturday evening. Dick Morley has taken over the chairmanship of the adult activities committee for the coming year, providing he ""fould select his own commit- . tee. This met with the approval of those attending. A Halloween dance is already in the planning stages and there will be more details, later. Fred Haubold reported Qn the carnival and thanked all who worked so hard to make it a success. He had a special word of' thanks for the "barker*' who worked. Old business: Fox Lake road should be ready by this weekend. Other roads have been graveled and graded. The residents along Fox Lake road had to replace their old culverts with iarger ones. Also culverts will be used to help fix the bad road conditions on Broadway and Meadow Lane. A new billing and bookkeep- . ing system has been set up for the coming year. Be3ches one and three and the area around the barn has been kept clean all summer and John Thelen is very pleased with it. A new bus shelter will be erected at the ball field near the Ray Thelen home. After June of next year Pistakee Highlands will become a precinct. Our polling place will be the community center. This will save all of us the trip to Johnsburg to vote. New Business: At this time the new officers for next year were installed. Our new president is Fred Haubold; vicepresident; Tom Warczak, secretary; John Heineman, financial secretary; Marie Schlick, i treasurer; Betty Warczak, o r g e a n t - a t - a r m s ; B a r n e y ^layer and trustees are Tom Mason. Elmer Martineau and Richard Farwell. Mr. Haubold thanked all last year's officers tor their time and efforts and the books were turned oves-to the new staff. Mr. Haubold outlined a plan which the association hopes to achieve this coming year. They are to finish work on Broadway and. Meadow Lane, keep the beaches and area around the barn in good condition, set up a better weed cutting program and reorganized the block captains program. Each new officer will be given various duties besides his elected office and will be responsibio for them. The meeting was adjourned and iced tea and cakes were served through the courtesy of the adult activities committee. Gpvernor Visits Highlands Last Tuesday at 10:40 a.m. Governor Stratton paid a short visit to the Highlands. It was one ot many stops on his schedule in the campaign for reelection this fall. The little guy was named Norman Thomas. He has a brother, Glen, and sister, Gewn. Also overjoyed over the birth of a son at the Woodstock hospital are George and Joycelyn Staudemeiar. The little fella who is yet unnamed Vvas born on Sept. 2 and weighed 6 lbs. Congratulations to you all. Brownie News This year the Brownies will hold their meeting at the home of Mrs. Dot Hayner. The first meeting had to be postponed for a short while but things will get under way soon. Hospital Patients Mrs. Lav^rne Madock spent all last week in the McHenry hospital under observation. Her family was quite concerned and will be very glad to have her back home again. Kathy Weber spent most of last week at St. Therese hospital. Birthday wishes to Laura Gregg who was seven years old on Sept. 8. She celebrated last Saturday with ten of her girl friends. Her daddy, Dud Gregg, celebrated Sept. 10. Jimmie Mclnerney celebrated his eleventh birthday on Sept. 11 and little sister, Margie, will have her sixth birthday on Sept. 18. Dick Morley had a party last Tuesday after school with his friends in honor of his eighth birthday. They w6re the ones who were having their first day in kindergarten. This is an experience which will probably be carved on their! memory for a life time. While they were gone Janice Janquart did their clog sitting. Over the Labor Day weekend Don and Wanda Dobecki entertained Dwight and Mary Elliott from Maywood. They were neighbors in Maywood. Janice Janquart's parents, Mr. and MrS. Schwartz, spent three days visiting here. Their good friend, Hennie Sathe, from Elgin, visited for a day. Mount Hope Church The September meeting of the Mount Hope Bykotas will meet this Saturday at 8 p.m. at the community center. The nursery and kindergarten class is being held in- the Johnsons' basement. Mr. Everett Sisk has taken over the intermediate class. The church now has classes for all ages of young people.
