The past officers - were introduced by Dick Morley and then escorted to their place at the table. A four-tier cake decorated Ihe center of the table and also floral pieces that were the compliments of Don Dobecki. There was plenty of delicious food for everyone. Past presidents, Floyd Johnson and Dan Johnson each said a few words. Ray Novotny was unable to attend because he had to work arid George VanZevern was sick with the flu. We are sorry that they weren't able to join us. From all the latest reports I've heard, a good time was had by all. This was the last social run by R. Girl Scoots Girl Scout leader Harriett Wilson attended a adult girl scout meeting on Sept. 14 in McHenry. The girl scouts are starting their fund drive. It will be held from Sept. 25 through Oct. 1. Mrs. Joyce Heir Is the captain of our community and she will be needing some help to do the job right. If she calls on you, how about giving her a helping hand. Other leaders are Mary Seldon and Marilyn (Bob) VanZevern. Meetings are held every Friday evening from 7 to 9. Teen Club The 'teens are planning a car wash sometime around the middle of October. I will have more details later. There will be an election of new officers at their Oct. 3 meeting. Mrs. Wilson is conselor of the group. Don't Forget Rummage Sale It will be here sooner than you think. I mean the Women's club rummage and bake sale that will be held on Oct. 1 at the barn. They are asking for clean usable clothing, household items, toys and anything you may want to get rid of. Call MaryLou ' Sabielny or Joyce Heir if you want your things picked up. It's just one week from this Saturday. You All Come Yes, you're all invited to attend the Halloween costume party that will be held at the barn on Saturday. Oct. 29. at 9 p.m. There will be prizes, fames and entertainment. Watch the column for more details. This will be the first party arranged by the new adult activities, committee. \ Woman's Club The first meeting of the year will be held Sept. 28 at the barn. This program stresses the need for voter registration, voting and proper method of marketing a ballot correctly. Blessed Virgin Sodality The St. John's Blessed Virgin sodality will take in new members sometime during the month of October. Around the Highlands Last Sunday, Sept. 18, was a very special day for Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Dennis of Pistakee Bay. It was the celebration of their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis are the parents of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Madoek -Mid the grandparents of tihe Richard Madorks and the Bob VanZeverns. The family gathered in Johnsburg and enjoyed the day with many relatives and friends from Chicago. Judy" Krumwiede and her sister-in-law, fatty K r u mwiede, and their children spent a day at ISvin Lakes last week. Last Sunday 4Dr. Nelda Leiptas of McHenry was a guest at the home of Kay and Wally Sielisch. Don arid Audrey Morin and sons, Dale, Tommy and Larry, spent last Sunday visiting Don's folks in Chicago. Floyd and Vi Johnson spent last week in Minnesota. They were on a business trip. Mary Lynn stayed with her grandmother, Mrs. Pechous, while her parents were gone. ' Ella Heineman pushed out her. living room walls last Wednesday evening when she had a 'home party'. About 24 friends and neighbors came and spent an enjoyable evening. Steve and Geri Vrbik had their niece. Miss Barbara Sue Babiar, staying with them for a few days last week before she returned to college. Susan Zilligen was admitted to the-McHenry hospital last week. Happy birthday to Janet Wilson who was 14 years old on Sept. 14. She celebrated with a few friends last Saturday. ' If anyone is missing their bowls from the party held on Sept. 10 at the barn, they can et them back by calling Rose Farwell. She has them ready and waiting. H e r b L i n d e m a n r e t u r n e d to work after a two week vacation. This was his first vacation in two years. Lorraine Erdmann was hostess to friends and neighbors last Thursday evening. She also had a 'home party.' Last Thursday Vi Schuble, Marge Moreth and Lorraine Lindeman attended a white elephant auction that was held at the home of Nellie Bergnar of Johnsburg. The proceeds of the sale will go to the Pink Lady Shoppe in McHenry. I promised you the name of the new Staudenmeier baby and here it is. The little fella has been named George Garth. He w a s w e l c o m e d h o m e by three big sisters. Orviile and Sara Baker from Downers Grove were weekend guests at the home of Martin and Hazel Rogde. Y o u r r e p o r t e r e n t e r t a i n e d her card club on Sept. 14 in her home. Starting off our fourth year with a bang were Carla Bales. Wanda Dobeckl, Dot Erbin, Dolly Novotny, Janice Janquart and Lois Mason. Our eighth member, Mrs. G. Van Zevern, was unable to attend because of a bad cold. Punch, pie and coffee were served. Dolly Novotny was voted treasurer for the year by popular vote. (She was the last one to arrive and didn't have much choice). Pat and Ron Jackson and children, Bill, Randy, Robby and Ami Jo, drove to Michigan the weekend of Sept. 11 for a reunion of Pat's family. Mr. Hanson was thrilled to death when he caught a 36" northern pike in the channel last week. Neighbors got a look at it so this isn't one of those fish stories. This is the one that didn't get away right, Mr. Hansen? There have been complaints about the school children putting live snakes in the mail boxes at the corner of Fox Lake Road and Broadway. This can be serious if some of our senior residents are frightened by them and suffer a heart attack because of a youngster's prank. I think some of our younger residents would be pretty frightened too, your reporter included. Once again I'll put in my little piece about DOGS. Man's best friend. If only their owners would keep them ih their own yard. Serious action was already taken against one family and it is too bad that it has to go that far before they keep their pets at home. Mothers kept telling them to watch the roped off area for the big plane to land and they were really at a loss for words when the plane landed behind them and down the road. Everyone should try to attend the next association meeting. At this time the new post office address system which will affect everyone in McHenry will be explained. Pistakce Highlands Church Rally Day Sunday, Sept. 25, will be special at the Mount Hope Methodist church in Pistakee Highlands community center. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:30 a.m. for all grades and high school in the community center. The nursery and kindergarten will be held in the Floyd Johnson basement, 226 S. Thelen Drive, which is one block west of the community center and then south. At 10:15 the junior choir and the children will have a brief rehearsal for their rally day program. Mrs. Irvin Sorenson will lead the junior choir; Mrs. Vi Johnson will direct the program in which each class will tell of its work. Pastor Robert Stine will have a junior message and Pastor Hagerty will have a message for parents. Hymns, prayer and scripture -wrii make up a delightful hour beginning at 11 a.m. The Youth Fellowship journeyed to Evanston, Sunday, Sept. 11, to attend the Bishop's convention.
