John and Daisy Smith attended a Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce dinner. The W i l s o n s e n t e r t a i n e d Joyce and Howard Lexow for a weekend. . . . Dr. and Mrs. Edald Iwick and daughter, Carol, from Lincolnwood paid a surprise visit to the Muellers. ... Daisy Smith visited Judge Cooney's house, and later attended a luncheon at Woodstock Country club in honor of Governor Stratton and his wife. The Joe Reznicek, Jr., and family came and took the Senior Reznicek for a pleasant trip to Wisconsin. a Tech-Sgt. in the Marine corpis. Charlie is ,a pattern maker by trade and when he has spare time he enjoys woodworking and boats. Elsie also attended Morton high. Besides being a mother and housewife she enjoys gardening. Speakers for the evening included Mrs. Mary Liebman of Bull Valley, representing the League of Woman Voters, McHenry unit; and Messrs. Jones, Herman and Kraus from the McHenry Kiwanis Club. All of the speakers demonstrated the correct way to mark a ballot to avoid having your vote cancelled out because of a spoiled ballot. They also emphasized the importance of voting -in primary as well as general elections. Mrs. Liebman particularly urged all the women to register at once, and to see that their husbands do the same. Larrame Bemis, our local registrar, introduced the speakers. The program was arranged by Jeanne Baird, program chairman. Games rounded out the evening. Hostesses were. Helen Suman, Jean Stoddard, Shirley Haufe and Midge Teuber. On the Sick List Jim Harper, our ever busy deputy sheriff, was put to bed in the McHenry hospital for a few days by his doctor for observation and tests. He is now resting at home, and at last r e p o r t was f e e l i n g b e t t e r , though still not up to par. Sub-teens Hold Pajama Party Sharon I^arie entertained a group of her sub-teen and 'teen friends at a pajama party Friday night, Sept. 9. The girls started off the evening with a delicious dinner cooked by Sharon's mother, then off to bed, but not to sleep, we're sure, for a long time. Breakfast next morning was cooked by the girls themselves. Guests included .Patty Matt, Becky Hughes, tiftnda Abbink, Cheryl Gilliland and Becky Oleyar. Girl Scout Neighborhood Chairman Jean Weyland, mother of Margaret, who is one of our Troop 478 Scouts, and Didi, a Troop 454 Brownie, has agreed to serve as chairman for Valley View Neighborhood, Sybaquay Girl Scout council. Her job will consist of supervising all scout activities in the McHenry area, and acting as liaison between the local troop and the Elgin council office. Jean has served on the Brownie troop committee for several years, has been a Day Camp leader, and was a Cub Scout mother for two years. She is always willing to help in troop activities, and will prove a capable leader in the girl scout organization.
