Receiving again, the Warriors fumbled and a Cardunal picked up the loose ball and ran to the six yard line before being tackled. On the next play they made the touchdown. The Hurricanes last week whipped St. Mary's of Burlington, 26-6, to gain some revenge for the 53-6 setback a year ago. At the same time, Coach Tom Parsley's club captured its third win in seven starts and its second win in a row. This will be the first time the Hurricanes have played the Beloit school. Beloit lost " to St. Thomas, 31-14, while Marian bowed to the Rockford school, 30-20. Marian's two quarterbacks, Mike Purvey and Bill Riley, teamed to give the Hurricanes a good offense, but injuries suffered on defense may sideline Purvey and also Mike O'Leary, defensive wingback. Purvey was out several games with an injury and the St. Francis of Wheaton game on Oct. 22 was his first start since the opener. i Ed Crowley, Marian's sophotfiore ""end, scored t touchdowns-- the first on the recovery of a fumble. DUNDEE HARRIERS BEAT MCHS 26-31 IN STRONG FINISH In a very close race Thursday afternoon, the Dundee Cross-Country team nosed out the McHenry Warriors 26 - 31. In a very strong finish, Miller of Dundee edged Thoma of McHenry for first place by .2 of a second. Hansen finished third, Koerper fifth, Foss ninth, Baur twelfth, Counley fifteenth, and Zeiger eighteenth. JAYGEES SPONSOR BOWLING TOURNEY FOR AREA YOUTH The McHenry Junior Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a youth bowling league jand tournament for boys and young men of the area. It will consist of a twentyfour game series, lasting a total of nine weeks. The first week will be used to establish an average for each entrant, as the tournament will be run on a handicap basis, providing close competition between teams. 4 Every Saturday afternoon, starting at 1:30 p.m., bowlers will have complete use of all twelve alleys at McHenry Recreation, located on Fox street. Entrants will be classified by age into the following groups: Bantams,. 12 years and under; Juniors, 13 to 15 years inclusive; Seniors, 16 to 18 years inclusive. At the end of the tournament, a banquet will be given by the Jaycees for all participants, and trophies awarded to the winners. All that is necessary, for anyone wishing to participate, is to ?ign up at the McHenry Recreation any day after noon. The Jaycees urge all prospective entrants to sign up immediately, as the starting date for this event has been set for Saturday, Nov. 12. TAG DAY WINNERS At the close of the "Red Heart" tag day conducted by the Volunteers of America to a i d d e s t i t u t e m o t h e r s w i t h children in care of the organization in this state, Mrs. Eleanore Reid, who had charge of the affair, reports that Bob Dowe was entitled to the first prize, having secured $34.83.
