Golf road, Arlington Heights, died early Sunday, Oct. 30, at Mercyville in Auro- 0. following a long illness. The deceased was born Oct. 12, 1892, in McHenry, a daughter ^ of Nicholas and Emma Freund Barbian. Her husband, Glenn S. Shales, whom she married June 28, 1919, survives, as do a son' and daughter, Dr. Robert Shales of Rockford and Mrs. Margery Hume of Arlington 8eights; four brothers and sters, Mrs. Vera Whiting of L a k e G e n e v a , A l b e r t a n d George of McHenry and Clara Overton of McHenry, and sev- ' en grandchildren. The paternal grandparents are MARGARET JUNG Mrs. Margaret Jung, 75 years old, died unexpectedly at her home at 201 N. Riverside Drive on Tuesday morning, Nov. 1, about 9 o'clock. She had been for several days after sufreririg a heart attack last Thursday. Mrs. Jung was born July 6, 1885. in Chicago. She and her late husband resided in Ringwood before moving to McHenry seventeen years ago. In apparent good health and active until a few days ago, her death came as a shock to the many friends whom she had acquired during her long residence in this area. Her husband, Nicholas, died in January of 1959. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J o s e p h ( A d e l e ) W e b e r ; a brother, Henry Jenen, of Chicago; and three grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hopkins of McHenry; Hospital Nurses Sponsor Dance Employees of McHenry hospital are sponsoring a dance on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the McHenry Country club to raise funds to furnish the nurses' lounge in the new hospital building. It is anticipated that there will be twenty-three nurses and fifteen nursemaids employed by the hospital when the new addition is put into operat'on. The hospital is one of the largest employers of professional and non-professional personnel in the McHenry area. Betty Phelan, day supervisor of nurses, is chairman of the benefit dance; Marian Karls, Val Patterson, and Jean Gagnon are committee members. Mrs. Ray McGee underwent surgery at St. Mary's hospital, Rochester, Minn., the last of the week. This Business Farming For the past eleven years, long-fed steer calves and longfed yearling steers have made the most returns above feed costs and costs of the feeder, according to farmers who have kept records in Illinois. These were the farmers who bought calves weighing less than 500 lbs., grading choice as feeders, and yearling steers weighing 500 to 750 lbs. The long-fed yearling steel's were fed under a summer pasture program. In only one year out of the last eleven did this system fail to pay at least for the cost of the feed and the feeder. That was. in 1951-52. Long-fed heifer Calves and yearling steers fed in dry lot failed to pay for the feeder and feed cost in only two of the,eleven years. Short-fed heavy steers above 750 lbs. when purchased made the lowest average return. They failed to pay for the cost of feed and feeder in four out of eleven years. . From the records it would seem wise to encourage the long feeding program for cattle feeders in Illinois, as well as other comparable areas. Remember, the younger the animal the less feed required for maintenance and consequently, the more economical the gains. Long-term feeding may also offer an opportunity for upgrading by careful feeding practices. The shorter the feeding period the more difficult this becomes. Mrs. Willing was born Feb. a4, 1832, in Chicago. Her husband, John Kline, died forty-six years ago. She is survived by a son, John H. Kline, a member of the Wonder Lake fire department; two grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. The body rests at the Peter M.
