Fred Haubold reported that since September of 1960 $1,- 249.20 had been spent on road improvements. Snow plowing has been contvacted for. Baracades have been installed at the dead-end streets leading to the channels. On Thursday, Dec. 8, the Pink Lady sewing guild met at the home of Isa Braenne of McHenry. They enjoyed a Christmas party- complete with grab bag and carol singing. Marion Carlson entertained with a solo. Delicious refreshments were served to Celia Blake, Marggrel Bolin, Lilah Jordon, Tess Kelly, Mable Martin and Mae Sl^dek of McHenry, Vi Schable, Lorraine Lindemann, and Marge Moreth of Pistakee Highlands and Agnes Komen, Esther Knapp, Nellie Bergener of Johnsbuug. He will have a favor for each child who goes out to greet him. The adult activities comijuttee put in a cash donation to help cover the expense of Santa's arrival. Many Highland residents enjoyed the Christmas party at the Moose Lodge in Woodstock last Saturday. Janice Janquart had quit£ a few callers last week. The Girl Scouts of Troop 295 will hold their Christmas party Saturday, Dec.( 17, at the Johnsburg public school with their mothers as quests. During the afternoon a Short flying- up ceremony will be held in which the girls will, receive their wing$. This wjll be followed by an, impressive investiture candlelight ceremony and each girl will receive, her Girl Scout pins. There be a grab bag and the refreshments are being prepared by: the girls. Troops 290 of the Girl Scouts and 150 of the Brownies wUl go carolling Friday, Dec. 25, A Celebration One year old Maureen and three year old Monica, daughters of Mary and Red Davis, are indeed fortunate this birthday time. Mary's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Doherty of Rolling Meadows, came out for the celebration and to bring gifts. Later in the week Red's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Davis of Chicago, came for an all day visit and- to bring, more gifts. Dogs I am still receiving coriiplaints about dogs running loose. Recently a dog tied in its own back yard was viciously attacked by several dogs and bitten so severely that a trip to the vet was necessary. This is the second incident of this kind reported to me.
