Local Adult Scouters Meet Last Wednesday a very good group of local residents met at the McHenry Shores home of Lee W h e t h e r h u l t a s s i s t a n t District Commissioner, Kishwaukee District of the Blackhawk Area Council. In attendance were Kishwaukee District Commissioner, Ben Plbelps, Kishwaukee District Scout Executive, Mel Ingason, Woodstock; and the following Neighborhood Commissioners^ Fran Lamerand and Ken tSchopp, of McHenry ShoreSj Rich Waczesany of Holiday Hills; Ed"Erb of McHenry; and our own two adult Scouts, Jphn Hosie and Dave Heckmann. The upcoming scouting season was discussed with emphasis on camping facilities in our district. The general opinion was that it will be a banner year especially because of the new Northwoods campsite near Watersmeet, Mich. The staff Mr. Whetherhult has organized was complimented by the Blackhawk Area staff representative, Mel Ingason for t h e i r a g g r e s s i v e a t t i t u d e and enthusiasm for the current scouting program. He felt that the boys of the area served by these fine men would richly benefit by their conscientious efforts. May their fondest hopes be realized in the * showing all Cubs, Scouts and Explorers make this coming year. Annual Bowling Party The annual childrens' bowling party of the Lakemoor Fun Club was held this year at Johnsburg. A Chilly Holiday Mr. and Mrs. Claude McDermott spent the past ten days in the Arrowhead region of Minnesota visiting friends and r e l a t i v e s i n . D u l u t h . They opened their cabin near Grand Marais on the North Shore District of an ice-blufc Lake Superior where, the temperature in the living room was 4 above zero upon their chilly arrival. OBITUARIES ANN OERTEL DEHN Mrs. John (Ann) Dehn, 55, of Chicago, mother of Mrs. James (Betty) Hettermann and Richard Dehn of Johnsburg, died Friday morning, Jan. 6, in Walther Memorial hospital. Chicago. The deceased was born in McHenry July 31, 1905, a daughter of Louis and Elizabeth Oertel. Besides the children mentioned, she leaves one other son, William, of Elgin; two daughters, Mrs. Joan Beeskow and Mrs. Rita Davis of Chicago; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Simpson and Mi's. Gertrude Martin of Chicago; and a brother, Tony Oertel, of Carpentersville. Two s i s t e r s , J u l i a M i c h e l s and Marie DiSilvestro, and one brother, Louis, preceded her in death. Services were held from the Nielsen funeral home to Maternity B.V.M. church Monday morning, with interment in St. Joseph's cemetery. JOSEPH PAS Services were held Thursday in New Mexfco Tor Sgt. Joseph Pas, 30, of Chicago, son of Mrs. Mary Czechowicz of Spojnia camp, west of McCullom Lake. A career man in the Air Force, Pas was assistant Flight engineer of the Air Force plane that crashed Dec. 17 over Munich, Germany. Besides his mother, survivors include his widow, Mary; a son, a daughter, four sisters and five brothers. PENAL POPULATION Inmate population of the state's five penal institutions increased by 469 during November over the same month in 1959. There were 10,295 prisoners in November, 1960, as compared to 9,826 in November, 1959. Hospitalized Mr. and Mrs. John Sheets visited his mother, Mrs. Stella Sheets, in a Terre Haute hospital several days last week.
