Well, this Saturday, Jan. 21, is the night. The dance this year is in the "Roaring Twenties^ theme and those attendingycan dress according to that era if they wish. Decorations have been prepared by the committee in charge to carry through this motiff. The slogan for this particular evening is, "Come in your best or in .the, twenties dressed." Just a certain nurrt^ ber of tickets are being sold for the dance so no tickets will be available at the door on Saturday evening. Brownie and Girl Scout News At their last meeting, Girl Scout troop 408 planned their forthcoming Valentine party and the celebration of the Girl Scouts birthday. Troop 295 elected new officers at last Wednesday's meeting. Those newly elected into office were: Carla Martin, president; Diane Hiller, vicepresident; Betty Hiinplemann, secretary; Mary Anderson, treasurer; Carol Atfn Dehn and Judy Strogul as flag bearers. Susan Roggenbach served the cookie treat for this meeting. The girls discussed their future badge woxk after the officers were elected. This troop is most grateful to Mrs. Dorothy Himplemann who presented them with a new American flag at this meeting. Theli^ troop flag was gifted to them by their leaders Marge Barth and Lois Anderson at Christmas. The Brownies of troop 378 have spent quite a bit of time discussing what they would like to undertake at future meetings. At one recent meeting the girls let their acting flairs run wild when they made up and acted in various skits. New officers were elected at their meeting of last»week. S[um5eFthir^wnmittee At the last community club meeting a committee of five was appointed to work on the new, house numbering system. The new numbering system is being prepared by various committees in the surrounding areas. This system will take effect in May. Serving on the Johnsburg ajiea committee are Gerry Wakitsch, George Hiller, Dick Hiller, Gregory Nowak and Emitt Hansen. More details will appear at a later date. Sparkling News The sparkle that made news in the recent weeks is the shine which comes from the third finger of the left hand on four special girls. Three of our young fellows gifted their sweethearts with beautiful diamond engagement rings through the holidays. John Huff and Judy Stilling of Richmond plan on a fall wedding while Jim Huemann and Maryann Granger of McHenry have not completed their plans as yet. Judy Baur of McHenry received s her beautiful ring fronr fiernie SChmitt on Christmas Eve. Most recently ta become engaged is Kay Hiller and Marvin Baur. Kay is the daughter of Hank and Lorraine Hiller. The young couple became engaged on Saturday, Jan. 14. and have tentative plans for a late summer wedding. Fund Drives Presently there vyill be a door to door camaSs for funds to support the March of Dimes and the Cerebral Palsy fund drives. Pleas try to contribute as much as you can to both drives. Your contributions go for a very worthwhile cause to help those stricken with this terrible illness. Mrs. Marie Oeffling is chairman for the March of Dimes in this area while Ethel Heim and Shirley Lieser are serving on the Cerebral Palsy drive. Around the Town Marge and Bill Barth hosted a New Year's get-together at their home which was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Rott and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ewers of Harvard and Mi'- and Mrs. Earl Barth. Recently Marge and Bill were guest of honor at a dinner held at Delavan where Bill received a citation from his place of employment. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hiller are enjoying a few weeks of sunshine while vacationing in Florida. The Wilfred Klapperich family and Mrs. Richard Dehn were recent dinner guests at the home of Mary Elizabeth Klapperich in Milwaukee. Kathy Barth was laid up for a few Hays from' a leg injury which resulted from a fall in her home. A few stitches were needed lo close the wound. Neil Barth is the recent victim of the mumps while the youngest member of the Barth clan fell down the basement stairs and chipped his front tooth. Never a dull moment with children around! Mr. Peck is a co-pilot for a famous airline. Bruce is a freshman in high school and Roger will go to Johnsburg school. We don't have orange orchards here, but we(do have a lot of hospitality to pffer. Passed a Test Richard Fredricks has passed a Red Cross training test in Lakeland Park.
