Fqb^ary 9, lftj Pisiakee Highlands February Me# Well Attended Hazel Morley HT. 7-8320 The February meeting of the association was well attended by persons with an interest In their community. There was the usual roll call of officers, reading of the minutes and treasurer's report. Committee reports were next. Dick Morley, chairman of the adult activities committee, gave a brief outline of the socials being planned for April, May and June. Dances are in the making for April and May and a luau for June. The ways and means committee reported of the newsletter which is being sent to every lot and home owner each' month. This newsletter is self supporting and no association funds are needed to keep it in circulation. John Magley reported on the library committee. Beach 1 has had 6,000 square feet of surfacing and 100 yards of beach sand put on it. It is hoped that when the ice melts the plastic and sand will settle nicely to the bottom and prevent the mud from coming through. The old story of dogs running loose was also discussedA If you are bothered by the same dogs running loose constantly please call our deputies and they will see that ,the dogs get taken away. Call Dick Farwell or Don Morin. If you can't find them at home because of their jobs then call president Fred Haubold. New business. It was suggested that a public address system be installed in the barn so who ever has the floor could be heard over the noise of the heaters. Mr. Burrs offered a P. A. system to the association free of charge. All we would need is speakers. Mr. Shastal was to be contacted to see what he could do about hooking it up with the juke box. After this discussion the meeting was adjourned and cake and coffee were served. Library Committee Meets The first meeting of the library committee was held on Jan. 31 at the home of Blanche Haefliger. Pastor James Hagerty is chairman, James Malek, vice chairman; Jocelyn Staudenmaier, secretary; John Megley, publicity chairman; and Blanche Haefliger, custodian. The community center has been selected as the place for the new library. "* Saturday, Feb. 11, has been set as library day. Joe Murray and the boy scouts have volunteered to assist James Malek in the door to door campaign to collect books of the hard cover variety. The library is starting out with nothing. All kinds of fiction, biographies, non-t i c t i o n, books, reference books children's encyclopedias be gratefully accepted. book cases will also be accepted. Blue and Gold Dinner The Cub Scouts will hold their Blue and Gold dinner on Feb. 26 at the Johnsburg Community hall. Women's Club Just a reminder about the meeting on Feb. 22 at the barn. All members are " asked to bring their donations for the cherry tree to Joscelyn Staudenmier, Blanche Haefliger or Sally Jo Von Bruenchenhein before the twenty-second. Baby Named The tiny new daughter of Ted and Dorothy Finger has been named Sandra Ann and weighed 6 lbs., 11 ozs., when she made her arrival on Jan. 25 at St. Therese hospital. Be My Valentine? Around the Highlands Mr. and Mrs. Jay Story attended the graduation of their niece, Carol Caligiure, on Jan. 25. Miss Caligiurs was graduated from Lucy Flower. Last Tuesday Dorothy and Roy Hayner attended a retirement party for Roy's uncle, Carl Opsahl, in Chicago. Hazel Rogde is in DeKalb caring for her mother. Hazel's mother fell recently an is unable to be up. Belated birthday wishes to Tom Finger wh% was 'four years old on Jan. 24. I would like to say happy birthday to Henry Waldin. Kay and her mother were luncheon guests at the home of Lill and Lee Orlowski last Tuesday.
