Games were enjoyed by the girls and prizes were awarded to the winners. Those receiving prizes were: Mary Lynn Meyers, Greta Martin, Carol Ken ten, Virginia Xarls and Linda Ulick. This troop is sponsored by the community club and meets <|Kh Monday afternoon in the crab hall. Long Time Resident Passes On Our sympathies are extended to the surviving relatives of John W. Schaefer. Mr. Schaefer passed - away at the Villa Rest Home on Jan. 29 at the age of 83* He had been a patient there for the past two Sjflprs- Immediate survivors include a niece and four nephews. W edding Bills Ring Two young couples from this area recently repeated vows which united them as man and wife. Edward C. Wagner, Jr., of Rt. 7 chose Doris Berkley aa his bride in a beautiful ceremony performed on Jan. 21 in Zion Lutheran church. 13 porf returning from their honeymoon the newiyweds will take up residence in Johnsburg. A lovely ceremony united Dorothy Schaefer, daughter of Mike and Eva Schaefer, and Gene Hughes, Jr., of McHenry as Mr. and Mrs. last Saturday, Feb. 4. The Mass was read at 10:30 a.m. in St. John's church. A. dinner and reception held in t^H community club hall honored the. newly married couple later in the day. Following their honeymoon trip, the new Mr. and Mrs. Hughes will reside on Riverside Drive in McHenry. Our whole community joins in wishing these two young couples many, many years of health and happiness. ™ Brownie News Troop 378 called the meeting to order last Tuesday at 3:15. The project of the day was explained by the committee- in charge. The group proceeded to make picture frames which they completed at this meeting. Serving a home made jpookie treat at the close of the meeting was Denise Koch. A (K^entine day party and other x^Jics were also discussed during the course of the afternoon. Georgette Miller shoe Feb. 6 as there natal day. Lighting f eleven candles on her birthday cake on Feb. 8 was Barbara Michels. Belated wishes also are sent to Mary Lynn Meyers who was twelve on Feb. 4. Celebrating birthday number twelve on Feb. 9 is young Joe Heim. Feb. 12 is the birthday of Mrs. Gladys Smith who will be doing her celebrating in Rockfoyd surrounded by her family. Come Feb. 13, David Oeffling will be in the mood to celebrate his seventh birthday. February is always a month lor double celebration in the Roberts home. Dolores passes another milestone on the seventeenth while on the twentieth Emitt and she will observe 7 years of togetherness. - Eleven years old is what Nancv Schaefer will be on Feb. 18. Diane Stilling will be turning fifteen on Feb. 21 and ditto for Sandy Hettermann on Feb. 11. Carol Ann Dehn will once again celebrate along with George Washington on Feb. 2J}. She will be eleven. Best wishes to one and all! Bowling Party Reminder Next Saturday evening the men of St. John's court No. 96 along with their wives and girl friends, will gather in the community club hall for dinner. This will be the climax of their recent bowling party. A special reminder to all those who will _ attend this affair -- dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Fire and Rescue Squad Calls Lasl Wednesday morning the members of our rescue squad were called to Pistakee Highlands. A man had falien on the ice and had been knocked out. First aid was administered on the scene. Later Wednesday afternoon they were called on to lend their assistance to a car accident victim. The occupant of the car, a Sunnyside resident, was taken in the squad truck to the McHenry hospital for further treatment. The firemen of station 2 were called to Lakemoor last week to assist their fire department in extinguishing a house fire. Making up the jubi- A round the Town Mr. and Mrs. "Pete" Peterson were in the city last week to attend the funeral services of her cousin. Mrs.- Helen Hettermann «and Mrs. Mary Hettermann and children visited Carol Ann Stilling at St. Coletta's school in Jefferson, Wis., last Sunday. While there they also visited with Susan Pitzen. Pleasantly surprised last Monday evening with a charivari in observance of their twenty-sixth wedding anniversary were Mike and Eva Eastwood Manor Women's Club Meets Tonight Marilyn Salo EV. 5-6015 Tonight the Women's club will meet at the barn at 8:30 p.m. This will be a very enjoyable evening for all the ladies in the subdivision. There will be a guest from one of the local beauty shops who will give you tips on how to care and style your hair. Refreshments will be Served. Feb. 20 is the date to remember. That is the date for our roller skating party to be held at the McHenry roller skating rink. This should be a real fun party so get your neighbors together and make up a group and I'll see you at the rink, or on it! The next meeting of the E. M.P.O.A. will be Feb. 17, at the barn. ' Faith Presbyterian Church The sermon for Sunday, Feb. 12,' will be the third in the series on the Beatitudes; entitled "The Keys of the Kingdom; Blessed are the Poor. . . ." The new board of deacons will meet Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m. On Fel). 14, the choir will meet for practice at 8 p.m. Birthdays The girls of our subdivision would not be outdone. This week it is their turn to have the birthday greetings all to themselves. Linda Freckman has her eleventh birthday Feb. 12 and also on the twelfth little Francesca Brogan has her first big day. On Feb. 14, Gail Engstrom will be 3 years young. Cub Scouts The Cub Scout pack 454 will have its Blue and Gold potluck supper, Feb. 19, at 4:30 p.m. in the Johnsburg community center. The Cubs are making the centerpieces for the tables and will also provide the entertainment. Also at this affair Pack 454 will celebrate its second birthday. All the parents and Cubs of the pack are asked to attend. - - Brownie News The Brownies held their election for new officers last week. Jackie Radner was elected scribe, Gail McCormick, treasurer, and Susie Newlon was their choice for president. The girls are now planning a Valentine party for next week, Bridge Club Nancy Lessard was hostess to the bridge club in her home on Feb. 1. Although it was a cold and snowy night, the girls enjoyed a warm and pleasant evening of cards. First srize for the evening went to Pat Kellogg, travelling prize, EIpha Phillippi and booby prize, Mary Hadly. Confirmation Mr. and Mrs. Fred Woodbury were very proud parents as they watched His Excellency, Bishop Locas T. Lane, confirm their son, John, at St. Patrick's church on, Feb. 1. John's sponsor for this rite was Pam's brother, Mr. Howard Eklund, of Rogers Park. A party was held for him on Sunday, Jan. 26. Girl Scout Round-Up Four subdivision women attended the Sybaquay Council Round-Up at Barrington last week. They were Marpe Potratz, Shirley Haufe, Vi Abbink and Gerry Breede. The leaders and troop committee members present saw movies of the national convention and listened to a panel discussion concerning the convention by leaders who attended the event in St. Louis. All leaders present at the round-up were presented with the new Girl Scout ribbon for leaders -- a gold ribbon for each shoulder.
