Johnston, at 308 Grove street, McHenry, died at Barrington test home Saturday, March 25, where Ke had been ^.patient for six weeks. Mr. Johnston was born March 26, 1875, in Mount Vernon, Iowa, and had been A postal clerk in Chicago before his retirement twenty-two years ago. He is survived by the one son, Alford; two granddaughters; and one brother, Samuel, of Iowa. His wife, Grace, died eleven years ago. The body rested at the George Justen & Son funeral home before being taken Sunday to the Baxter chapel in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Funeral services were held there Tuesday, with interment in Mount Vernon cemetery. Neighbors saw him fall and rushed to assist him, but they were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead by a physician thirty minutes later. He is survived by his wife, Olga. The body was taken to the George R. Justen & Sons funeral home and then transferred to the Machacek chapel at 2245 W. HuronA Chicago. Services were held Tuesday, with burial in St. Lucas cemetery. EMILY KOUBEK Mrs. Emily Koubek, 81, died Sunday morning, March 26, at her home at 7406 Oak street. Wonder Lake, where she had resided for the past eight years. Born Jan. 5. 1880, in Russia, she was a member of the C z e c h o s l o v a k i a S o c i e t y of America. Survivors include her husband, John; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur F. For sixty five years, she found pleasant recreation semi-annually at her cottage on the Fox rwer in Woodl&wn Park. Throughout the many years they came to McHenry, the Schermann vfamily took interest in anything that would promote the welfare of the community. The deceased was the widow of the late former Alderman John Schermann of Chicago, who in 1924 was killed in nis home on the river here by a gas explosion, when the entire lovely home was totally des troyed. ALICE SMEDLEY Mrs. Alice Smedley of Oak Park, a resident of Wonder Lake for many years, died last week. Services were held last Thuisday morning in Chapel of McHenry, 111. Grace Episcopal church, with interment in Petersburg, 111. Her Jii&band, Marshall, a 111 Lu.-- tit * ELAINE SCHITELER A young Lakemoor woman, Mrs. Elaine Schueler, 34, of 210 Willow Lane, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 25, at her home, where she had resided for eight years. Surviving are the widower, Henry C.; a son, Kenneth; her mother, Mrs. Mae DeCola, of Chicago; and a sister. The body was taken to the Peter M. Justen & Son funeral home, and later removed to the Murphy chapel at 7600 W. Grand avenue, Elmwood Park, for last rites. <1 KEITH MeGTTftK Keith McGurk, twenty-threemonth- old'son of Mr. and Mrs. Loreh McGurk of the village - of Sunnyside, died Thursday, March 23, at McHemy hospltal, where he had been a patient for thirteen days. The child was born in April of 1959. Keith's brother, Kevin, died March 10 at the age of 3 years. The body was taken to the Reeves funeral home in Coal City for services on Saturday. Mr. Schroeder was born In Oconomowoc, Wis., Aug. 36, 1885, and came to this cotomunity in 1936. For tinariy years he worked ift county roads, and developed tile rosfd system in the Wonder LaKe community. More1 recently, lie had been employed as maintenance man at the Auto Lite in Woodstock. He is survived by his wife, Wilna j Trow Schroeder; one JJaughter, Mrs. Jessie Sevcik, of Woodstock; a step-brother, Frank Schroeder; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
