On Saturday, April 22, at 2:30 p.m., the opening meeting of McHenry County "Chain of Missions" sponsored by the County Ministerial association will be held at the Community Methodist church in McHenry. A discussion panel moderated by the Rev. Ellis L. Graves, returned missionary to Brazil, will also include the Rev. James B. Bowman returned missionary to Nigaria and the Rev; Joseph Moulton returned missionary to India. The theme of the meeting is "Into All the World Together". You are cordially invited to attend. On April- 25 choir rehearsal at 8 p.m. April Shower Georgia Wilson, Marilyn Salo and Jean McHale were the hostesses at a shower on April 7, given in Lee Landin's honor. The ladies will join forces to clean the church in preparation for First Holy Communion4 on May 7. The more help that comes on this day, the faster the job will be completed. All helpers are asked to come prepared with their own buckets, scrub brushes and rags. Please do n« t bring any detergents as the cleaners will be distributed at the church. If for some reason you can not be present on thip day, any donations to defray the cost of the cleansers and detergents will be greatly appreciated. Lunch will be served at noon to all the workers. Charlie has played with the minor league teams for several years and had his first crack in the majors when the Giants opened in San Francisco. News of the Brownies Troop 378 enjoyed a very active afternoon of roller skating on April 9. Several of the parents and the troop leaders joined in on the activity. , At last Tuesday's meeting, this troop made invitations which they presented to theii mothers to invite them to the annual Mother-Daughter tea The tea will be held on May 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the community club hall. Girl Scout News At their meeting prior to Easter, troop 408 colored eggs which were put in a decorated basket and distributed to the patients of the Villa Rest Home. The girls have been doing a lot of practicing on their skit which they will present at the M o t h e r-Daughter tea next month. Bowmen Present Program The Northern Illini Bowmen invites the public to attend their annual open house program on April 22. T"his event will commence at 8:15 in the American Legion hall. Entertainment will be provided and refreshments will be served. There is no admission charge for this program. Richard and Catherine Dehn braved the snow last Sunday when they travelled to Chicago. They were the proud godparents for niece, Christine Davis, when she was baptized at 2 o'clock service in Maternity R.V.M. church. Recently named as a member df 1961 May fete committee at Northern Illinois university, was Charlene Freund, daughter of Leo and Martha. Charlene, who is a sophomore, will be in charge of campus decorations for the festivities May 19, 20, and 21. Three big brothers are awaitfng the time when they can exercise the right to protect their little sister.* HOLY FAMILY CHURCH PLANS FOR Twenty-one families of the ^Church of the Holy Family met Sunday night at o p.m. for a spaghetti dinner, prepared and served by the Men's club of the church. After dinner, reports were given by the various officers and committee chairman of the church. Mrs. Louis Winn reported that a rummage sale would be held early this summer by the women's auxiliary and that many interesting meetings have been planned for the future. The women's auxiliary meets on the second Wednesday of. each month. Mrs. Erica Olson reported that the junior altar guild made Easter gifts for the pediatrics ward at Victory Memorial hospital. Bud Ford, chairman of the grounds committee, reported that the ground improvements would begin as soon as the weather cleared. Father Fish reported that church attendance had increased this lenten period. Confirmation will be May 7 and Bishop Burrell will officiate.
