Spring: Arrival The spring stork delivered a cute sandy haired boy, named Scot Michael Dixon, at the Woodstock Memorial hospital April 19. Mother and son are doing fine and they returned home last Saturday. The proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. W. Dixon of McHenry and Robert Link of Houston, Tex- Christening weth Ann Gerambio, age 6 ninths old, was christened April 9 at St. Michael's church in Chicago. She is the first child of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gerambio of 115 Pleasant street. After the christening a party was given for forty guests at the home of Beth! Get Well Wishes Johnny Zimny, age 10, has spent several days in the McHenry hospital. He entered the hospital last Thursday, was operated on Friday and returned home Saturday. John is doing fine and his three sisters and brothers, Linda, 8, Pamela and Paul, twins age 5, are glad to have him back home again. The guests enjoyed a birthday supper Sunday evening. Now that all of you fellows have had a good look the uniforms, we hope that you liked what you saw. The plans are for six teams, all uniforms will be the same, but each team will have their own colors in the caps and socks. There are still a few openings, boys who have not registered may do so at the field next Sunday. Bring along a copy of your birth certificate. Those of you that have nol turned in your application should get them in at the try outs. The registration fee for the year ^will be three dollars, this covers the- insurance and the boys cap. Little League The weather was against us last Sunday, but we" were glad to see the large number of boys that turned out for the field trials. We hope to see every one of yoii out there for the try outs next Sunday, April 30. The time and place will be the same, between the hours of 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the old ball field on Shore Drive. All of you boys now have an idea as to what the field try outs are like, if you have a desire to play a certain position you can try for it. There will be a couple of days for you boys to practice the position that you want, then get out there on the field Sunday and make a good showing. So up at 4 a.m. last Sunday and off to Lake Geneva, Wis., with a friend from Chicago, Phil Johnson, to enjoy some great fishing and the first winds of spring air. Visit to the Zoo Alan, age 6, Linda, 5, Shirley, 3, and Johnny, 2, all children of Ron and Barbara Meurer, enjoyed a fascinating trip to the Brookfiefd Zoo last Saturday. Grandma Meurer of Maywood experienced the trip also. They arrived at the Zoo just at feeding time, so they followed the Zoo keeper and saw all the animals sample their lunch. The chtfdren were very enthused to see all the story book animals alive. Both Max and Shirley graduated from Proviso East Township. This young couple met at a dance and have been married S exciting years. Max is a line man in Maywood and is an early riser each morning as he commutes each day by car. He served our country in the Navy, both home and abroad, and was stationed in Norfork. Va. He likes to fish, hunt and has a gun collection. Shirley enjoys caring for the youngsters, being a housewife and when time allows, to sew. RE-ORGANIZE DEPARTMENT Bills to reorganize the Illinois Department of Public Welfare along lines recommended by Gov. Otto Kemer in his March 28 address before a joint session of the General Assembly have been introduced in the House of Representatives. The Kerner-endorsed legislation is the first 'Step toward providing an effective program for treating mental illness in Illinois. The reorganization bill will create a new Department of Mental Health on July 1, 1961, to supersede and replace the present Department of Public Welfare. Cubmaster John Connell was told that only six firstplace blue ribbons were awarded among eighty scout units represented at the affair. The booth contained boat models designed and built by the boys of the three dens in the pack. Boy Scout Troop 132. Victor Justes, leader, prepared a basketry exhibit. Many parents and boys from Holiday Hills visited the Scout- O-Rama to view the exhibits and the skits and demonstrations which were planned for the entire day.
