After a full year of planning and work, the 'adoption of • a new system designed to make location of individuals within the city and in outlying sections easier, has become a reality. In recent weeks, postal employees have been re-labeling cases and setting up schemes for new addresses. Patrons of the post office are reminded that when using their new addresses, it is very important to indicate the location of their address by using north, south, east or west in conjunction with the street. Most patrons have received notices from the post office as to their new addre|s, and others will be notified* in the near future. Along with the letters are several forms which may be used to notify publishers of the .new address, and also some to be used to notify correspondents. Additional cards may be obtained at the post office or from the carrier. The dividing line of the numbering system is the Lake courity-McHenry county line, which makes all addresses west of this line a "west" address. The other dividing line is the McHenry township- Nunda township line, which is just south of the Edgebrook school. All addresses" to the north of this line are a "north" address" or south of this. line a "south" address. If a person's address is 3214 W. Lincoln road, it indicates that the location of the property is 3.2 miles west of the Lake-McHenry county line. If the address is 3214 N. The new system of addresses should make the now 7 11--i--r~r~ i n difficult task of locating particular persons oompa»- tively easy. A long period of study was undertaken before the system to be used was decided Upon as best suited to the community. SHOP AT HOME J I- I SfAKEfi'?#.') A detailed street guide, listing all streets alphabetically will be available at a later date. The large squares on the m&p indicate a one-square mile area, and the small lines which disect the square mile lines are tenths of miles. Each mile is marked in one thousand numbers, and this in turn is divided into tenths, and each tenth of a mile is marked in hundred numbers. The heavy line on the right of the map, which is the Lake- McHenry county line, is the beginning point for the east and west addresses. All premises located on an east-west road lying westerly of this line, will have a west address. The heavy line located on the south side of McHenry is the McHenry-Nunda township line, and represents the beginning point for all north or south addresses. All premises located north of this line will have a north address, all premises located south of this line will have south addresses. Locating Lakemoor on the map, one will notice that it is the crossing point for the two dividing lines. The numbers along the heavy line going west 1, 2, 3, etc., represent 100 West, 200 West, etc. You will note that these numbers increase until 9, which would be 900, and then to 1,000, which would be one mile from the McHenry-Lake county line. After the 1,000, the numbers 1, 2, 3, etc., are repeated again, indicating 1100, 1200, 1300, etc. The same explanation holds true for numbers indicated on the Lake- McHenry county line running north and south. It is of the utmost importance that the N. S. E. or W. indicating the direction which your street goe^ be used as part of your address. ohoII^AV . . :|GRISW(JLD Sl@.E\ "PWim: TNISH LAKE .
