Question for the day! How come Joanie Buss had such a rough day? Eddie was the one who went to the Sox game? The second round of our dir e c t o r ' s t o u r n a m e n t a g a i n came up with many clos€ matches, winners as follows: Class A -- E. Brown beat J. Phelan, H. Conway beat G. Yorgan, P. Overton beat J. E. Sayler, E. Buss beat J. Larkin, H. Wilkinson beat A. Jackson, J. Moss beat L. Consaga, R. Rosing beat V. Adams, T. Evans beat O. Marion. Class B -- H. Reinhansperger beat E. Gac, D. Weber beat G. Rink, R. Rode beat B. Newkirk, B. Blaney beat B. Beckenbaugh. Low Net 1-7 -- Ed Buss. The games committee claims that since Ed was the only member in the above class to completely fill out his score sheet (score, handicap and net score) his net of 75 is the winner. Low Net 8-12 -- R. Johnson 63, H. Tonyan 68, T. Wheelock 68. Low Net 13 and up: D. Weber 70, R. Rode 73, M. Hoffman 74. Round of the Week -- Ray Johnson, 73, Sunday. On Saturday, his partner, Paul Overton, says, "What happened"? Shots of the, Week -- Doc Sayler: Duece on the fourteenth hole. Hank Tonyan sank his blasting wedge from the left sand trap, but after he got in the left sand trap from the right sand trap on the fourteenth hole. Art Jackson (one of out short hitters), on the seventeenth hole, hit a driver and an 8 iron. Locker Room Chatter -- • -- Hr*Tonyanr after three-putting 5 holes on the front nine asked J. Varese, "John, Arnold Palmer takes off his glove when he putts. Do you think that would help my putting?" John, always obliging, said, "Sure, the way you putt, try anything once." Hank did, and only had one three-putt on the back nine and shot a 38. D. Rosing played in his first" tournament against V. Adams who has won our club championship more times than any member. On the tenth hole H. Tonyan asked Dick, "How do you stand in your match?" Dick replied, "Until this hole, not bad, but this hole is lost. I'm lucky if I get an 8." Dick made his 8 (out of bounds). Vale proved ho is human as he lost the hole and the match. Did you notice that Jimmy Demaret has a twin playing on our course, not his golf shots, but his dress apparel. (Rex Roseberry) Ella is buying his clothes. Very rice, Ella. "Bud Michels, Have a chair, what will you have? Ambey, put it on Ray's ticket." Next Sunday the match of the week should be Overton Cadillac vs. Buss Ford Sales. Sunday, May 14, marked the opening of the sailing season at Pistakee Yacht club. At 1± a.m. the starting gun was fired for the first race of the Chinook Series. Seven boats were on the line. The course was three and one half laps windward, leeward. R 18, Jim Laughlin of Powers Lake finished in first place. Jim can be considered as probably the best "C" boat skipper in the midwest as he won the Blue Chip Regatta on Pistakee Lake last September. This regatta is open only to the top skipper on each lake in the Inland Lake Yachting association, and the Wisconsin Yachting association. Y 63, Gerry Schloemer, was second. Y 4, Don Looze, was third. The only difficulty experienced during the race was at the finish line when Y 33, F r a n k D a v e n p o r t , c a p s i z e d about five feet before he crossed the line. The U. S. Coastguard assisted in righting the boat. We are grateful to all of you who brought in cars to be washed. One reason it was such a success was due to the work of the boys, by making signs and putting pamphlets on cars. We also discussed club projects for the summer. We are going to order them and have lettering put on them. This week we are going to have a short meeting and then work on our dragster. There is still a lot of work left on cutting the steel for the frame, Phil Bartmann and Bob Hopp are also working on a stock car which they intend to run this year. Good luck.
