Since September, Sandra Freund has read and submitted written reports, signed by her parents, of 381 books selected from the list suggested , by her teacher for her grade level. Rosalyn Rees took second in the program contest by reading and reporting on 267 books; Theresa Justen was third highest with a ^otal of 254 books. Sister Mary Lucia, O.S.F., principal of St. Mary's, states that the reading program has produced wonderful results to stimulate reading among the students of St. Mary's. A large number of students read and reported Upon more than 100 books this year, an impressive accomplishment. Enrollment was held for three -new members, Marion Phflug, sponsored by Frances Kasperski, and Phylis Bruce and Beverly Bruce, sponsored by Ila Hogan. Other members sponsored in recent weeks are Helen Donovan, Gwen Lennon, Margaret O'Kane, Mildred Jacobson and Sandra 'Hall, sponsored by Alyce Kowal; Mary Putnam, sponsored by Hazel Struwe; Frances Kasperski and Mary Jane Heitz, sponsored by Marjorie Fernstrom; Elizabeth Vavrick and Marie Kempfer, sponsored by Jane Roewer. * At this time, Lona Brever received her Academy of Friendship ring from the chapter. It was presented to her by Marge Granath and Hazel Struwe. The second degree was given to Lona on May 7 aL, Quincy, 111. Many things of interest to the members were discussed, among them being the installation of new officers to be held at the lodge on June 16 at 8 o'clock. Also in the near future will be the Loyal Order of Moose annual picnic to be held on July 9. Election of new officers was held with the following officers elected for next year: Senior regent, Ethel Bruce; junior regent. 11a Hogan; chaplain, Lona Brever; recorder, Ql^a Johnson; treasurer, Alyce Kowal. Junior regent for the coming year will be Marjorie Fernstrom. On June 10, at Mooseheart. in the House of Got!, Mabel Thomas will receive the honor of becoming a member of the College of Regents. This is a very high honor and can be received only by co-workers who have successfully fulfilled their duties during their years as senior regent and junior regent.
