The picnic and swimming party will be held on July 26 at Shady Shores at Griswold Lake. tor Reason for Celebration Mrs. Clarence J. Smith had a very special reason for travelling to the Lee County Nursing Home last Sunday. Her far ther, John Plaritz, celebrated his ninty-eighth birthday: A party in his honor was held at the home at which time sixty guests were on hand to extend fffceir congratulations to him. A beautiful cake baked and decorated specially for the occasion was brought along by Lucille. Mr. Plantz has been a resident in the home since 1954 and is the oldest member there. He lived most of his life in Nachusa and still attends Sunday services there. Rescue Squad and f| Fire Calls The firemen of station 2 answered a call recently which took them to Rolling Acres where a field fire of undetermined origin had started. On the Fourth of July the rescue squad was summoned out on two boats calls within five minutes of one another The boats capsized in two separa^ g^ireas of the water. One fj^ar Half-Moon Island and the other near the Stermcr home on the river. One of the occupants had to be taken to the MjcHenry hospital. Another call took the squad Birthday Corner Belated "Birthday Greetings" to Peggy Peterson who turned ten on July 11 and to Ricky Wakitsch who observed birthday number eleven on July 12. Happy birthday to Warren Smith who is nine this month. July 13 is shared by Ginny j Schlueter, Bill Martinec and J Joy Ann Hettermann. Ginny is three, Joy Ann is 10 and Bill is "over 39." Next Sunday, July 16. the Johnsburg Tigers play host to the Crystal Lake team on the local diamond at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
