Cities Service Gas Station is the place to come. . . .the Jabor will be donated by a teenager and the price of the rear wash will go to the Center. ' The Jasper Indelicatos and Mr. and Mrs. John Indelicato took Brother Arthur to Winona, Minn., to St. Mary's College to resume his studies toward a Master's degree. He will be in Winona until the middle of August, when he will leave for Appleton, Wis., to 'Wonder Workers Off to Camp 4-H district camp Shawwaw- na-see near Manteno, is home for thirteen Wonder Workers this week. The girls left Monday and will be back tomorrow. Enjoying this wonderful week of camp life are Kathy Ahrens, Donna Mae I Dean, Vickie Gustavson, Bob- | bie, Jackie, Mickey and Patty | Hansen, Marilyn Marks, Krysia Olesczcuk, Helen Palko, Ronee Sommers and Xristine Weisenberger. Mickey is serving as a junior counselor. The club has taken two wonderful go-see trips to help them in their project work. Last Wednesday the cookers visited a candy shop in Richmond and previously the sewers had toured a fabric shop in McHenry. , i The girls will participate in j Achievement Night, July 27, at j Harrison school. I All the judging will take place at the McHenry County Fair this year and the Wonder Workers are selling tickets to j this major event which will i take place Aug. 3 through 6. If the club sells its quota they will be eligible for prizes, so why not get your tickets in advance from ^t-he 4-H'ers. Switch Boat Rare Last Sunday's race was sailed as a switch boat race, in which all skippers sailed s o m e o n e e l s e ' s b o a t . P e t e r GconTeson won in competition with 7 other boats, sailing Hal Thorsen's boat. The weather was ideal with a 12 to 15 knot breeze from S to SW, and Georgeson's time was 1 hr.. 23 sec. Mort Woodward followed Georgeson over the finish line a scant 12 seconds later, skippering "Wet Pants". This race gave Peter Georgeson the number 1 place in standings up to date this year. Other contestants and their times follow: No. 3, Hal Thorsen in A1 Sinden's boat, 1 hr., 50 sec.; No. 4, Fitzgerald in John Harris' boat, 1 hr., 3 min., 34 sec.; No. 5, Don Coumbe in Woodward's boat, 1 hr., 4 min., 30 sec.; No. 6, Sinden in Coumbe's boat, 1 hr., 4 min., 1 43 sec.; No. 7, Hal Georgeson in Bjurstrom's boat, 1 hr., 5 min., 41 sec.; No. 8, Harris in Fitzgerald's boat, 1 hr., 10 : min., 37 sec. in the church fellowship hall. All ladies of the congregation are invited. Saturday, July 22, the church will combine with the Sunday school to hold its annual picnic at Fox Lake Park in Wilmot, Wis. The bus will leave the church at 11 a.m. for those not having other transportation. Bring a picnic lunch and contact Mrs. Gordon Larson about a dish to pass. Ice cream, soft drinks and coffee will be supplied by the church. Following the picnic the Men's Fellowship Group will have their monthly meeting at the park, families included, starting at 4 p.m. Guest speaker will be Lester Gentry, director of the servicemen's center at Waukegan. Supper will terminate the meeting. July 26, Raymond Knight will speak during the evening service presenting the work of the Christian Medical association. This international organization comprises doctors and dentists who serve the Lord through supplying much needed dings and medical assistance. Nativity Lutheran Church Worship services at 8 and 11 a.m. Sunday School 9:15. and 11 a.m. Gene Samuelsen, Supply Pastor. Choir rehearsals: Senior choir Thursday evening at 7:30; Junior choir Saturday morning at 10. The junior choir beach party will be held Wednesday, July 26, instead of Tuesday, July 25, at the home of Mrs. Harold Hartwig in Island Lake. Choir members will leave the church at 10 o'clock by car. The Luther League will have their swimming party, Sunday, July 30, at Cedar Lake. Cars will leave the church at 1:30. Cars are needed to take the Leaguers to the Lake. The line up Sunday was George Moder p, Cope c, Fred Legion Elects Officers Heading the Legion post for the second consecutive year is George Weeks, who was reelected commander at the meeting July 10. Wilbur Habich was elected senior vicecommander; Arthur Hay, juni o r v i c e - c o m m a n d e r ; W i l b u r Haak, finance officer; James Kinzie, chaplain; and Ray Meiswinkel, sergeant-at-arms. The executive committee is composed of Robert Kiddell, Otto Hartung and Robert Fisher. Lois Weeks was again appointed as adjutant of the post and will serve as president of the auxiliary, making the first time the Wonder Lake post and auxiliary will have a husband and wife team working together at these jobs. The post and auxiliary membership drives are underway. If you are a member of either the post or auxiliary you are asked to get your dues in promptly. News Briefs Four Girl Scouts are spending twelve days at Camp Far Horizons near Hanover, 111. They are Christine Crane, Leslie Harris, Joann Rink and Joyce Setzler. Happy birthday to David Sellek who was 12 years old Sunday. He celebrated with a cook-out for his friends on Saturday, . . .until the downpour cut off the swimming part of the afternoon. Jane Setzler is enjoying a 10 day trip to the West coast. (We admire people who can make these arrangements on 1 day's notice) She took advantage of a ride with Hank's brother who was making the trip. The tallest monument in the U. Spring Grove Firemen Plan Carnival Sept. 2 Mrs. Charles Freund At their meeting last Monday "night the firemen discussed the coming^carnival. It will be one night only, Saturday, Sept. 2. Games will be provided for your entertainment and many prizes will be given away. Don't forget that date, SEPT. 2. Birthday Club Members of the birthday club were entertained at the home of Mrs. William Shotliff on Wednesday afternoon. Games of cards were played and prizes went to Mrs. Minnie Pierce, Mrs. Beulah Karls, Mrs. S u s i e R u d o l p h , M r s . A l i c e Stevens and Mrs. H a 11 i e Harms. A lovely lunch was •served by the hostess. Thursday evening where they were graciously entertained by their hostess. A dessert lunch was served followed by cards. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Paul Lewis, Mrs. George Mi.y and Mrs. Arthur Kattner Killed in Accident This community was shocked and grief-stricken at the news of the death of Irma Firsching, 18, "and Donna Firsching, 14, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. George Firsching, former residents. They were killed in an auto accident near Stacyville, Iowa where the Firschings now live. Their younger sister, Karen, was also in the car and is reported to be in critical cond i t i o n . M a n y r e l a t i v e s a n d friends from here travelled to Iowa on Wednesday to attend the funeral. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved parents. Home on Leave Don May, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold May, who is with the U.S. Air Force and stationed at Lackland AFB, Texas is enjoying a furlough at his home this week. Guests Visitors in the Lee Smith home the past week were her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Art Hatfield and family of Cornell, Wis. Vacation Mr. and Mrs. Ben Smith left, this week for a two week vacation at Wisconsin Dells. Their son, Harold, is staying vlkh Mr. and Mrs. Leo Smith. Win All Star Game A large crowd came out to -the park tc seethe All Star game last Saturday night. The Spring Grove All Stars beat the Antioch team, 23 to 17. Of course, there will be a return match. The next game will be at Antioch. £ Clubs Mrs. Josephine May was hostess to her club members on Thursday afternoon. Five hundred was played and prize winners were Mrs. Mamie Tinney, Mrs. Minnie Pierce, Mrs. Nora Miller and Mrs. Anna Sanders. Refreshments were served.
