July 26 Barbara and Janet Wilson went to Springfield for a few days. Christine Wroblewski spent last week visiting with his cousins. Gloria Waldin and Barbara and'Janet Wilson. Reb Sisk is enjoying a two week vacation. Wally Sielisch will celebrate his birthday on Aug. 15. The George Neesans left for their new home in Stone Park, 111., last Saturday. Their friends hope they will be back tor many visits. Raymond Thelen, Jr., underwent surgery at the McHenry hospital lastMweek. We all hope he will be home soon and good as new. < Joan Megley was happy to have her sister and mother visit for a few days. Her guests were from Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Janquarts were pleased to have Jan's sister, Eillen, and children with them last week. They were visiting from Milwaukee. The Bales, Sisks and Dobeckies attended a summer stock play in Highland Park this week. Marge and Bill Moreth were in Chicago last Monday. Marge paid a visit to her sister in the hospital. Carl Heafliger spent a few days in St. Loufs on business last week. Blanche stayed home and nursed some badly burned hands, as a result of a freak accident the Sunday before. Dorothy Orlowski spent last week in Chicago with her sister, Gola MacDonald. Best wishes to Bud Messel who left last Thursday for the Navy. Bud enlisted and is looking forward to his hitch in the Navy. Don Morin is enjoying a two week vacation. Don, Audrey and children returned Wednesday from Michigan. While on vacation they celebrated Don's birthday on Aug. 1. Richie Orlowski and Gene Heir attended the American Legion convention in Chicago last Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They marched in the parade Sunday. Blanche Haefliger and Adele Hauck spent last Tuesday in Waukegan. They enjoyed the day visiting a state park. Ross and Dick Farwell entertained guests from Cicero this past weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Havlicke and family. Mrs. Agnes Saski, last Wednesday. They are all from Chicago. Kay and Wally Sielisch entertained Kay's aunt, uncle and daughter, the Hanleys, of Chicago. They came to pick up their daughter, Karen, who spent the last two weeks with the Sielisches. Your reporter and family spent last Monday at the home of Jim and Sue Barrett at Crocketts Estates. Doing a bit of double celebrating were the Marv Jones and Hank Zenners. They went out last Saturday and ^oth couples celebrated their anniversaries. ! The mail carrier is having a difficult time delivering the mail. Complaint Department I received a call from a civic minded resident who is concerned for the safety of the bathers at the beach. Boats have been parked there, water skiing too near the shore, fooling around trying to capsize the boat and causing a hazard to the children in the water. These offenders are adults who should know better. COOKS ATTEND WORKSHOP Among the twenty-six cafeteria managers and cooks who completed a one-week school lunch workshop at Northern Illinois university was Marie Wieczorek of Spring Grove. During the „week, the women attended lectures and demonstrations on work simplification methods, meat cutting and cookery and food buying. The total number of meals prepared each year in the school cafeterias where the women work is estimated at more thart a million. Following is a complete schedule of events which will take place during the four days of the county fair. August 3: 9 a.m., 4-H hog judging, advanced sewing judging, 4-H and open class beef judging; 9:30, 4-H poultry and rabbit judging; 10, 4-H garden judging, 4-H beginning flower arrangement judging, open class grain and vegetable show judging; 10:30, Girl Scout display and demonstration judging; 1, news and radio broadcast; 1:30, dress review for state fair; 2, tractor pulling contest; 7, carnival; 8, queen contest and entertainment.
