Sept. 10, from 1 to 6 p.m. by June and Chet Banker of Mayfair drive and Chrystal and Ed Staeh of Granite City. 111., to honor the girls' parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Schwieger, on their golden wedding anniversary which occurred on Sept. 6. The couple was taken completely by surprise and sat wide-eyed as the guests began t<Hiarrive. Mrs. Schwieger was presented a lovely orchid with gold ribbon while Mr. Schwieger's boutonniere was a white carnation with gold ribbon. A gold leaf was pinned on each guest as they arrived by granddaughter, Patricia Stach, of Granite City. The guest book was kept by granddaughters. Donna and V^-na Schwieger, of Chicago wwo attended with their mother, Lorine. Grandsons. Robert and Edward Stach, Jr. were also present. „ The highlight of the day came when they renewed their marriage vows belore their grandsoh, Edward Stach. Jr., a newly ordained minister of the Methodist church. Edward. Jr., was deeply honored io rend first marriage servicc for his grandparents on such a great occasion. Jean Gagnon of Lakeland Park was responsible for the I delicious buffet served contin- I uously throughout., the afternoon and everyone enjoyed Mrs. Lundberg's coffee cake. The Raus were among the 300 who attended the reception at the Wing 'n Fin club at 6 p.m. that evening. The wedding cake was most unusual. Ever so often, Herb's 92 year young mother, Mrs. Emma Fischer, comes for a 2 week visit. She celebrated her 92 years on July 5. Marge -enjoys reading and gardening while Herb enjoys bowling, electronics and short wave radioing. Page Fifteen Late Vacationers Marge and Louie D'-Francisco, daughter Pammy, Marge's sister, Sarah Ellinger, and her son, Jim, have just returned from a 2 week trip to Florida. They spent most of their time in Ft. Lauderdale sightseeing ,nnd deep sea fishing. The thrill that comes once in a life time was experienced by Louie when •he caught a .6 foot, 6 inch, 35 pound sawfish. They made their I triumphant return to the dock with the sailfish flag flying where a crowd had gathered to view their catch. Congratulations. I^ouie. They also visited Cypress Gardens where Esther Williams has her water show, Weeki Wachee Springs, Silver Springs and Miami. While in Miami they were fortunate in seeing the filming of the TV show "Surfside 6". On their return trip they stopped in Rock City, Tenn.. to view the seven states from atop Lookout Mountain. Marge and Louie are already making plans for a return trip next year. Brownie News Tuesday, Sept. 12, was the first of the fall meetings of Brownie, Troop 1.50. A fly up ceremony was held and Cathy Blythe and Marta Martin flew up to intermediate Girl Scouts. Mary Stevens, in Houston bv phone and were told of the horrors of the hurricane plus some humorous sidelights. One side of their roof was blown j °ff. water was 2 inches deep covering the floors and no electricity. Their garage caved in and the roof collapsed destroying much of Harry's merchandise. The humorous side -- imagine .sitting in the bath\: roctni in a raincoat with an umbrella over you. Many oilier tragic' and humorous stories were told and we are .very thankful that o.yr family is safe. This is Life Twin great-grandsons of Mr. and Mrs. George Owen were born to their granddaughter and husband, Helen and Leslie Cragg, in McNeal hospital in Berwyn on Sept. 4. However, the smallest, Daniel Leslie, passed away after 9 days. 5 lb., 1 oz. Donald Edward, survives and he has an older brother, David Owen. They moved to Sunnyside Estates in Weddings St. Joseph the Worker Catholic church in Wheeling was the setting for a beautiful wed- (nRg Saturday, Sept. 9, at 11 o'clock in the morning when Kenneth Bute, son of Katherine and Paul Bule, took as his bride, Miss Lydia Schwarz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.. Richard Sehwarz of Wheeling. The lovely bride wore a white sheath of peau de soie with overskirt and a crown with shoulder length veil. The bridesmaids, one of whom was Kenneth's sister, Kaysle, attired in gold street length dresses were followed by the groom's small sister and brother, Kim and Kelly, who attended the couple as flower girl and junior usher. A dinner for 120 was held at a hotel in Wheeling after which the couple left for a 2 week trip to Florida. On their return they will make their home in Arlington Heights. Another wedding of interest was the one attended by Henrietta and Karl Rau and children, Karen and Johnny, Saturday, Sept. 9, of his nephew. Roger Olsen, to Hilda Derntez.
