November 15 Organizational Meeting for New Evening Lecture Club -- ELLA FRICKE Death came suddenly to Mrs. Ella Haberting Fricke, 60, in the early hours of Sunday morning, Oct. 1, at her summer home on North Orchard Drive, MeCullom Lake. A few spasms which awakened her husband, Dewey, was the only warning of her impending demise. The couple's only child, Lorraine Blom, and husband, Karl, who were sleeping in the other bedroom, were instantly aroused and rushed to help. Mr. Fricke ran next door and summoned Mrs. Elmn Nelson, who called for an ambulance and then returned with the stunned husband to offer assistance. In spite of mouth-to-niouth resuscitation and other methods of stimulating heart action, all efforts failed and she was pronounced dead at McHenry hospital. Mrs. Fricke, who would have been 61 in November, had been in good health, and her death was a shock to the family. The deceased was born in Waverly, Iowa, on Nov. 6, 1900. 7:30 p.m. -- McHenry Country Club. November 18 Fund Raising Dinner for McHenry Hospital. lived there until her death. The couple purchased their property in MeCullom Lake in 1941, where they spent weekends and summer vacations. During the past year, the Frickes had been preparing this home for year around occupancy and had planned to move to MeCullom Lake oft a permanent basis in the spring of 1962. The body was removed to the P?ter Justen funeral home and then taken to the Liddy chapel, 4900 block of West Irving Park, where services were conducted yesterday afternoon (Wednesday). Burial was in Acacia cemetery. In addition to her husband and daughter, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mathilda Rubey of Chicago and Elizabeth Partridge of Helena, Oregon; and two brothers, Bernard and Theodore Haberling. of Waverly, Iowa. MRS. HAL PLUMB Mrs. Hal Plumb of 916 Center street, McHenry, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 1 o'clock • in the morning at her home. She had been ill for several years. The deceased was born in Woodstock, daughter of the late L. B. Compton and Lucy Jewett Compton. Mr. and Mrs. Plumb came to McHenry about nine years ago from Des Plaines. Survivors include her husband, Hal; and two sisters, Mrs. Albert Purvey and Mrs. George L. Jones, both of McHenry. She was preceded in death by two children and two brothers. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Petor M. Justen funeral home where services will be conducted by thp Rev. George W. Martin on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery, Woodstock. Finley of Ringwood and Mrs. Bernice Keevil of McHenry, was laid to rest in McHenry ' County Memorial Park cemetery Wednesday, following services held at the Schneider-Leucht funeral home in Woodstock. Mr. Finley died Sunday, Oct. 1, in Chicago. IONT2 ZINCK lone Zinck of 1333 A North Riverside Drive, died Sunday morning, Oct. 1, at 6 o'clock at McHenry hospital, where she had been a patient for two days. Her illness extended over a four-year period. Mrs. Zinck, 64 years of age, was born in Aurora on Sept; 15, 1897, and had resided in McHenry for the past five years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Guardian Chapter, No. 720, of Chicago. Her husband, Mark, died in 1955. Her only survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Estelle Ekeroth of Lake Geneva, Wis., formerly " of McHenry; Mrs. Bess Coffin of Glen Ellyn, Mrs. Myrtle Henry of Reno, Nev., and Mrs. Martie Tesch of National City, Calif. The body rested at the Peter M. Justen funeral home until 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, when Rev. George Martin officiated at last rites, followed by private burial. TONY J. MILLER Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Mary's Catholic church for Tony J. Miller, 67, who died at Memorial hospital, Woodstock, on Tuesday, Oct. 3. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at rest at the George Justen & Son funeral home after 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Death followed a two-week stay in the hospital. The deceased was bom March 25, 1894, in Johnsburg, and at the time of his death farmed in the Ringwood area. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters in McHenry. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth, to whom he was married forty'five yean ago; two daughters, Mrs. Sarah Groell of Ringwood and Mr*. Estella Engels of Genoa City, Wis.; one son, Richard, of Ringwood; five granddaughters; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Pitzen of McHenry and Mrs. John Degen of Johnsburg; two brothers, Peter F. and Joe P, Miller of McHenry. Suspend Licenses Of Sight For Violations Eight McHenry county drivers had their licenses Suspended by the state office of Secretary of State Charles F. Carpentier this last week for three violations. They were Leslie E. Crumpier and Wesley C. Nelson of Crystal Lake; James S. Gainer and Robert F. Vonkus of McHenry; Robert E. Lass and Charles J. Woody of Algonquin; and Dwight R. JUNIOR FIRE MARSHALS LAUNCH ANNUAL CAMPAIGN A broad Attack on fire dangers will be launched next week by the City's third, fourth and fifth graders who are undertaking fire safety intpeetions of their homes. As junior fire marshals, they wjll join more than four million youngsters in 15,000 elementary schools across the nation in carrying home the lessons of Fire Prevention Week. Oct. 8 to 14. Thus, families as well as the youngsters will learn life-saving fundamentals. "When you consider that more than 11,000 persons die each year as the result of fires, and that one-third of them are children," said Chief Edward Justen, "you see why we want to give our youngsters real respect for fire's terrible threat and encourage them to check their homes for Safety with Mom or Dad." Lach child will get a home fire inspection report. Listing seventeen safety checks, the report is included in the fall issue of the Junior Fire Marshal magazine, to be distributed at schools. Parents are asked to sign a certificate of merit in the magazine to show that the child and a grown-up member of the family have truly checked the home. A youngster qualifies as a junior fire marshal when«he brings a signed certificate to school and his name is posted on a special honor roll in each class. Already they are beginning to learn new music for next year, when they will again go into competition.
