They would be held at the barn and run for a period of 5 weeks. . . that is. . . five meetings of % hours each. These would be in co-operation with Civil Defense Director, John Shay of McHenry. We would like to get twenty to thirty-five people interested enough to attend before going ahegul. He, Helen, and the four children; Pat, age 19, Dennis, age 16, Theresa, age 12, and Margie, age 8 have resided at 2208 W. Mill Lane these past 5 years. Tom works for a transit company in Chicago. He is a U.S. army veteran, second vice-commander in the American Legion, and member of St. Patrick's Catholic church in MpHeriry. Births and Birthdays The Goran Engstrom family welcomed a new baby girl into the family Oct. 19. Baby Joyce Ann, named after her mother as she arrived on her birthday, weighed in at 7 lbs., 3 ozs. Mother Joyce returned home with baby Joyce just in time to sit down to the birthday cake baked for twins. Janet and Janice, by Grandmother Klein who came out from Chicago to lend a hand. Cub Scout Bake Sale Nov. 4 our little Cub Scouts of Pack 454 will hold their bake sale in Justen's furniture store from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. To Wed Nov. 5 JoAnn Koerper, only child of Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Koerper at 2303 W. Country Lane, will become the bride of Lynn Ibsh Sunday, Nov. 5, at the Zion Lutheran church. She was our Fiesta Day Queen contestant in 1960 and a graduate of McHenry high in June, 1961. Both JoAnn and Lynn are employed in this area. He is a native of McHenry. Bridal Shower JoAnn Koerper was honor guest of a miscellaneous bridal shower given by Mrs. Jeane t t e Koerper in Lakeland Shores. Thirty-six women attended, mainly relatives of the bride-to-be. JoAnn received many fabulous gifts. The guests were served punch and a beautiful buffet luncheon. Baby Shower Mary Vestgard was honor guest at a shower given by Marilyn Salo, Andree Butler, Jeanne McHale and Georgiana Wilson in the Wilson home. Andree made all the delicious pizzas which were enjoyed by all and Mary received many very beautiful gifts for the coming new member of the Vestgard family. Attended Weddings Georgiana Wilson attended the wedding held in Chicago as Miss Lorraine Tonn became Mrs. Charles Willney. Bonnie and Gerry Biederer joined them at the reception. They all had a very nice time. The Borcovans attended the wedding of Pat's baby sister,, Sara (Downey) Holder, in Chicago. Tom and Helen Birmingham and son, Pat, attending a wedding in Chicago of cousin, John O'Connor. Birthday Party Nancy Olson celebrated her ninth birthday with a party of neighboring girls and boys. Games were played and cake and ice cream with all the fixin's served. Everyone had a real good time. Celebrating their anniversary Richard and Grace Gruhn enjoyed the evening dining out with Mel and Kay Stephenson. Dick and Louise enjoyed a night out on his birthday. Visiting the Borcovans this past weekend were Mr. and Mrs. George Harris and two children, Karen and Georgina. Friday evening six lovely ladies from Chicago got together with Pat Coughlin. Members of "That Old Gang of Mine". The Glen Messer family drove to Addison to visit friends and then joined other members of the Messer family at Mom Messer's for dinner in Melrose Park. Get-well wishes go out to Gil Moore in Hine's hospital where he will be for quite some time. Frank Qual is home after undergoing a sinus operation in the hospital. Blood Donors Wanted Pam Woodbury's father, Arnold Eklund, is now home recuperating and on the road to perfect health. He would like to replace the blood used that put him back on his feet again. Anyone wishing to donate please contact Pam or Fred Woodbury by calling 385-4312 and they will give you all the information needed on time and place, etc. A North Carolina man was unable to renew his driver's license because he had a heart attack around license renewal time. After he was released from the hospital, he reported to a testing station to take a driver's test for a new license. He passed the test easily, but while the examining officer was filling out his new license, the driver died of a heart attack. Spring Grove OBSERVE WEDDING ANNIVERSARY IN JAPANESE STYLE Eva Freund Mr. and Mrs. Vern Thelen celebrated their thir t e e n t h wedding anniversary by entertaining a group of eighteen guests at a dinner in Chicago on Sunday, Oct. 21. The dinner was served Japanese style "the sit-down on the floor, take off your shoes kind". Everyone enjoyed the evening immensely. Cougratulations on your anniversary Vern and Bunny! , < Halloween Parties St. Peter's Catholic school and the Spring Grove school both had parties this week in keeping with Halloween. The eighth grade pupils had their party on Thursday in St. Peter's hall. All were in costume and the hall was decorated for the occasion. The children of Spring Grove schpol had their party on Friday. There were games and refreshments were served the youngsters. After the party was over and the children were leaving, we all caught glimpses of witches, goblins and gypsies. Club Meets Mrs. Luella May was hostess to the members of her club at her home on Thursday evening. Five hundred was played and prizes went to Mrs. Emma Kattner, Mrs. Arthur Klein and Mrs. Luella May. A dessert lunch was served. Trips Mr. and Mrs. Ben Fout have just returned from a trip through. Kentucky and Tennessee. They also visited relatives in Indiana. Wade Sanborn and Lillian Sanborn left this week for Crystal River, Fla., where they will spend the winter months. Windfall Dr. and Mrs. L. L.
