The party CROP COLLECTION EXPECTED TO FAR EXCEED $60 TOTAL "Several hundred carloads of corn in Illinois are available for CROP everv year, but most of it is never collected because the harvest is not completed." This statement, made by the state CROP director, Elvin I). Frantz, points up the need for dedicated CROP workers who will go the second mile in Organizing this overseas relief appeal of the churches. Most farmers are happy to share some of their harvest, is sponsored by the Woman's auxiliary of Lilymoor. Birthday Greetings go to Master Gary Leske. Gary will be four years old on Tuesday, Nov. 28. Greetings also go to Billy F&ntus who was nine years old on Thursday, Nov. 16. Still more greetings go to Diane Fuhler. Diane will celebrate her big day Friday, Nov. 24. Thanksgiving Day is tomorrow. At this time I would like to wish you and yours a good and happy holiday. and people in town will give cash f6f the purchase of Tood, but they have to be contacted, according to Mr. Frantz. November is the month .for most CROP collections in Illinois and the churches all'dver the state are urged to ioi\ together in organizing this community food appeal. Last year a total of" forty one carloads- of corn were collected and the total valti€ of corn and cash came to more than $165,000. CROP workers expect to far exceed this amount in 1961, but in order to do this the harvest machinery must be kept in running o'xier. Mr. Frantz reminds those counties who have made preharvest contacts that fallow-up arrangements must be made to be sure that all pledges aie collected. Each county campaign director, area leader, team captain and canvasser has a definite job 10 get done in order to see that the harvest is completed. The chairman must be sure that each person' knows exactly what his responsibility is. One should retiU the best books first, for no one. ljves long enough to read them all.
