P«g» Twenty THE McHENBY PLAINDEALOT Thursday* December ?, 19^j| Holiday Hills SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN DECEMBER 24 Ine* Young Santa Claus is coming to town. To our town, in particular. This year, as last year, the Gvis'wold- Lake Athletic club has written a long letter to our jolly friend at the North Pole and asked him to come here before he goes on his famous ride. They "told him all about the good little girls and boys who live around Griswold Lake and asked if he could make a special trip out here. Well, they've been waiting for an answer td their letter and it finally came this week froni Mrs.. Klaus. Santa's so busy these days that he asked her to wrile the letter and tell us that since we h^ve so many good girls and boys he will make it his business to be here, at Casey's Mansion on Griswold Lake road, or River road, as it is „now called, on Sunday, Dec. 24, from 12 until 3. Now, he's going to be watching between now and then, to see if a!! those children are behaving. For all the good eirls and goys he promises to fill his sack so he can «fiye jpaeh one a gift. So, kids, from now on, lie real, real good.. And nsk mom and dad to take you over to see Santa Claus on Sundnv, Dec. 24, from 12 to 3. Our gratitude to the Griswold Lake Athletic club for writing to Santa Claus and telling him about all these "Good fcids". Association Meeting -The Holiday Hills Property Owners association held a special meeting on Monday, Nov. 27; at St. John's Lutheran church. The speaker for the evening wis Mr. B. Narusis, an attorney at law. The meeting was v«|ry well attended. Mr. Narusis spoke to the group on many of the problems of our association. After citing problems of a similar subdivision. He answered questions from the oor. Hostesses for the evening are Lorraine Bemis, Loretta Exline, Virginia Lundelius and Mabel White. S Woman's Club Christmas Party The Holiday Hills Woman's club will hold their annual Christmas, party on Wednesday, Dec. 13. The business meeting ^fill be_dropped for tl)e evening. There will be a dollar grab bag gift exchange, so. don't forget to bring-your gift-. Farewell Party Guest of honor at a farewell luncheon held at Mary Mahon's home on Nov. 28 was Mrs. Bernice, Rohde. She is returning to Conogo Park, Calif., after a lengthy stay. Mrs. Rohde is Doris Filip's "mom" and she came out several months ago 4to help out with her new grandson, John Albert Filips. Of course it was great being with the rest of her grandchildren also. They are Billy. Guy, Cindy, Sharon, and Linda. From what I hear she won the hearts of $11 in the neighborhood and this was the reason for the party. Present to wish a fond farewell to Mrs. Rohde were Chady Ary, Helen Boettcher, Jesse Hawhee. Vir g i n i a Lundelius. Mary Mahon Bea Musolf and twelve children. I'm told Doris isn't the only one who will miss her mom. all the gals at the party will miss her too. Teens in Our Town Jim Dowhin is in the news again. This week - on two counts he was honored at the football banquet by being given an honorable mention on the All-Conference squad and beside that, he's been named captain of the wrestling team at McHenry high school. Jim, so far is undefeated. Nice going, Jim! Another teen deserving recognition is Pat Spencer who has been made a member of the music masters of America. To become a member of this national organization you must maintain at least a "B" average in your studies beside having musical talent. And talent Pat has. Pat has an outstanding voice and will be singing a duet in the coming Christinas concert on Dec. 10. Congratulations Pat, keep up the good work. Apology My sincere apology to Arlene and Herb Hill. I hope my error didn't cause too much embarassment. You see, I congratulated them on their tenth wedding anniversary and I didn't know until too late that young Herb is ten years old and this really was their eleventh anniversary. I hope it was a very happy one and that there'll be many, many more.' Happy Birthday ^ First of all a belated' happy birthday to Kay McWilliarr.s who was ? on Nov. 21. I d'on'i know how old she was but I know she aged that day because she spent most of the day in McHenry hospital with little Jimmy who broke his leg at school that day. I hope the rest of your birthdays are better Kay. A big happy birthday to Wayne Wemken who will be 4 years old on Dec. 8. And a happy nineteenth (?) birthday to Jean Baird. Blue Ribbon for Shawn Shawn, that beautiful collie owned by the Dodenheims, has won another ribbon. They entered him in the Chicago collie clubs forty-sixth annual special show in Logan Square on Nov. 19. He was shown in the 9-12 month class and took the blue ribbon. He was up against some pretty stiff competition here. FRANKLINVILLE TRIO TERRORIZED BY SIX BANDITS Country living has its dangers, as three members of the Kugler family at Franklinville can testify since they were terrorized by six armed bandits Sunday afternoon before the intruders left with $45 in cash. The sheriff's office was notified by a neighbor after George Kugler went to his home for help. The bandits had ripped the phone wires from, the wall. Lowell Kugler was watching television when the six entered the house, most of them waving revolvers. They tied him and forced him to the floor, then grabbed George Kugler and did likewise. Mrs. Lizzie Kugler entered the room later and she, too, was bound. They took money from the three, then left. It took about a half hour before the Kuglers could free themselves. Promises and pie crusts are e a s i l y b r o k e n , b u t p o o r l y mended.
