McCullom Lake, entertained thirty-two guests asfe their* third annual New Year's party. A Hawaiian theme was used this year. Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Robert Herceg and Mr. and Mrs. ,Tom Lynch of Benton Harbor, Mich- Mr. and Mrs. Steve Dzikowski. Mrs. Tom Lynch of Benton Harbor entertained with professional Hawaiian dances which were enjoyed for the second year by all the guests. Shirley Lynch and Michael Wowczuk are old friends who went to school together in Coloma, Mich., years ago. Mrs. Jean Gagnon prepared all the wonderful food for this party and the preceding two years. She was assisted by Mrs. Wowczuk and her mother, Mrs. Howard Maxwell. Local friends who enjoyed the festivities were Mr. and Mrs. Chet Banker, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walters, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Landen, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Revak, Mr. and Mrs. Marty Stoffel, Mary Bolton and friend. New Brownie Troop Holds Investiture Rite A new Brownie Troop, sponsored by St. Mary's Home and School association held an investiture ceremony on Wednesday, Jan. 10, in St. Mary's school hall. Leader of the troop is Rosalie Givens, assisted by Anne Miller and G r a y c e Dobyns. Members of the troop are Betsy Althoff, Bonnie Buss, Gail Cammerer, Pamela Curulewski, Mary Grace Dobyns, Terry Doyle, Karen Givens, Cathy Haggenjos, Nancy Larkin, Constance Miller, Deborah Miller, Yvonne Neuman, Susan Peters, Mary Sue Scharf, mane Scheuer, Maria Tomasellt/ and Carol Wirfs. Refreshments were served to their guests after the ceremony. Riverview Camp Holds Installation Riverview Camp. No. 681S, R.N.A., will hold regular installation of officers Tuesday. Jan. 36, at the K. of C. haii. A pleasant social evening will follow. Home-School Group Sponsors "Cupid's Bow" St. Mary's Home and Schoo] association's annual dance. "Cupid's Bow." will be heid Feb. 10 at the Legion home and is open to the adult public. Tickets will be on sale after each Mass starting Sunday. Jan. 14. Writers Club Is Entertained Locally Mrs. Walter Patzke entertained members of the Crystal Lake Writers' club at her, home at McCullom Lake last Thursday evening, with ten present. Mrs. Donald Liberty' was a guest of the evening. A delicious lunch was served. OSRITAL Vote* McHENRY WOMAN WILL PRESIDE AT DEANERY MEETING The next open meeting of the McHenry Deanery Diocesan Council of Catholic Women will be held at St. Peter and Paul parish in Cary on Jan. 18. Rev. Alfred Dietsch is host pastor. Benediction in church at 7:30 p.m. will precede the meeting. Presiding at the meeting will be newly appointed Deanery president, Mrs. Charles Cuda of McHenry. Guest speaker is Rev. Ansel m Romb, OFM, Conv. A native of Chicago, Father Romb was ordained a Conventual Franciscan Father six years ago. He studied at the, University of Southern California, where he received his BJV. degree, also a master's degree in education and a degreee in music. Advance techniques,^ legal implications and community responsibilities will be emphasized. Speakers will he County Judge James H. Cooney and Joseph Blumberg, of the McHenry County Mental Health Clinic. In a programming change of pace, from the serious aspects of this Tuesday night's meeting, will be the Feb. 13 meeting given to community recognition of "Citizen X" -- a surprise citation to an individual whose contributions are broadly felt in the Wonder Lake area. The "Citizen X" project has been a well kept secret during the many weeks of its development, and is exciting considerable interest, according to PTA ofHp^alV^v'Ko? li^e been making detailed arrangements to honor the individual. Attempts to pry out the identity of the person to be honored have met with no success despite various "pressures" applied on those few who are in the know. A community turnout at the February meeting is anticipated to take part in the ceremonies.
