The orcma ramily is one of the most widely-spread pn earth, and is found in every region except the very cold and very dry regions. A not* of thanks to the faithful members who have attended the recent meetings during the inclement weather. Our attendance at meetings is still higher than that of posts who have, five to ten times our membership. While on this subject, I will quote from the Illinois V.F.W. News, "McHenry V.F.W. Post 4600 is now fourth in the state with a membership percentage of 121.6." Our goal by April 30, 1962, is 150 per cent. To those who are interested in our "Red Devil" drum and bugle corps, they are practicing each Wednesday evening and Sunday afternoon, preparing for parades and competition this corps expects to enter in this year. Musicians who would like to join this fine organization should contact the V.F.W. club manager or Bob "Beef" Freund. The girl color guard is shaping up well (no pun intended) and should be at their best when they hit the parade line. With a full complement of seventeen members, this guard will please the most critical of observers. Coming Events Don't miss the V.F.W. "Sweetheart Dance" to be held on; Saturday night, Feb. 10, at the vets' clubhouse, McHenry. This is to commemorate St. Valentine's Day. Tickets are on sale at the clubhouse and may be purchased from members. Get them soon, they are limited. Honoring veterans of World War I, company G, 129th Infantry, 33rd division of McHenry county, the V.F.W. Post 5040 of Woodstock and Post 4600 of McHenry are co-sponsoring a dinner dance to be held Saturday night, Feb. 24, at 240 Throop street, Woodstock. Featuring this event is a roast beef dinner (family style) and dance music at its best, plus the privilege of meeting our veterans of World wTi I. LlT'S BE THERE!
