Our village president. Marvin Muleski. was among this group. These men were informed on various projects being earned on by this company, such as "Project Echo" and satellite communications and how they will affect our everyday living. They also saw a film on this company's current project an anti-missle missle. Speeches were given by the various department heads on their department's progress through the years and. into the future. This informative day ended with a cocktail hour and a delicious dinner. W. 9.C. 8. News The Women's Society of Christian Service met Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m. A short business meeting w&s held. The meeting was then turned over to the Rev. Erskine M. Jeffords who gave a talk on the Lake 31uff Children's Home. He told qf its beginning and how it is operated today. A short film showing a typical day in the life of one of the Lake Bluff children was also seen. The W. S. C. S. of the Community Methodist church in McHenry extended an invitation to our society to take part in the World Day of Prayer on Friday, March 9. at 10 a.m. It will be held at the Methodist church in McHenry and baby sitting facilities will be available. Attend Birthday Party Joseph and Clara Cammarata went to Chicago Feb. 11 to help, their son, Phillip, cele- W«te his forty-firth birthday. Another birthday party was held on Sunday, Feb. 18, in the Cammarata home for their son, Larry, who was lfl. Those attending were Larry's sister, .Mary, and her husband and son, his sister, Katrina, and her husband and two children and also his sister, Judy. A delicious dinner and family togetherness were enjoyed by all. of space to bed down the whole family in one house that the children enjoyed staying overnight with their cousins. They were all together once again though at their family get together at the home of Chris* brother, Walter. The Williams family returned to Sunnyside on the following Monday. Holiday Visitor Gerald Skinner, the grandson of Eugenie and Hank Tucker, spent the weekend of Lincoln's birthday with his grandparents. Brownie News Brownie troop 150 met nt the home of Maricm Pflug on Tuesday, Feb. 13. The gals worked this week decorating their pencil holders with old jewelry and then continued to work on their Brownie flag. The meeting closed with the Friendship circle. President, Connie Jablonski; secretary, Regina Kern: treasurer, Heidi Mayer and mother helper, Lue Schultz. Cookie hostesses were Marie Karstens and Regina Kern. This week's reporter. Mary Jane Lakowskh News from Old Friends We Jiave hacl news that George and Sue Schumann and their family spent two glorious weeks in Puerto Rico vacationing. George had been there while he was in the service and wanted to take his family back to see it. The first week they spent in and around San Juan and then the second week was spent in a little fishing village, mixing with the common everyday towns people, which was educational and enjoyable. fc- weather was beautiful and the Schumann girls were able to swim practically every day. George and Sue are one time residents of Sunnyside and are now residing in Algonquin. kitchen, as his hobby is cooking. Many of the villagers know how good he is, for he has done the qooking for quite a few of the social events. Irma keeps busy caring for her family and also works in Crystal Lake. She is now serving her first term as oui^ village clerk. Her hobby is bowling and for the tirst time in her life has had \joth the time and opportunity to join a league that bowls every Tuesday night. Irma, at one time held down this job as village reporter for almost 2 years. The Guilt her family attends church at St. John's parish. in Johnsburg. It is a pleasure to have these good people living and-working in our village. anniversaries to report this week. Card "Night The Social Club of Sunnyside is planning r. card night for this next Saturday, Feb. 24. All of the good old card games will be played and if you have a new one they say we will play that too. Delicious refreshments are also planned for this night out so don't miss out on the fun and relaxation with your fellow villagers. See you there! Betty and Ed Lehman will be our host and hostess. Sick IJst Get-well wishes are extended to Joan Kruetz who has been ill with the flu and to Weston Frisby ;\vho recently had a heart attack. Gertrude Mackinson is recovering from a fall, her daughter came from the city to take care of her. The Von Obstfel^er children have bee;n talking turns passing around that chicken pox bug that was so busy in last week's column. Alfie May is still on the sick list but this week he has had the flu. Village Meeting The village meeting will be held on March 5. For valuable information on what is happening in our village, be sure to attend this meeting. Family Reunion LaMarr and Chris Williams and their family spent the weekend of Feb. 11 with Chris' folks, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Matthews, in Indianapolis, Ind. Chris said that with the lack Visiting Time This week we are visiting a well known family in the village, the Gunthers. Bill and irma Gunther moved to Sunnyside in September of 1958 as newlyweds. Chicago was the city that lost this nice family. They have five children and two grandchildren with another one on the way. Three of these children are at home, Fred is 16 and his main interest Is customized sports car models and all types of sports; while Charlie who is 15 is quite a hunting and fishing fan. Dorothy, age 10, is somewhat like her brothers in the fact that she likes the out of doors and loves to fish, ice skate and swim. Bill works in the city and when he has the opportunity you will find him in the Bake Sale This is just a last minute reminder to the folks that on Feb. 24 the W. S. C. S. bake sale will be held. Look for the posters in the Fox Lake stores. Anyone not having a way to take your bakery goods to the sale please call Hazel Rogde at HY 7-3347 on Friday night and she will see that it is picked up. Please Call A few nice people have called me to tell me their news. This ris appreciated and it certainly has been a great help. There is however a few who think these people have had their names in the paper too often. We are happy to hear of the happenings of our villagers, after all that is what this column is for. From what I have been told we had quite a struggle getting our own column. Only you can help me make this column worth reading and make people set up and take notice of our village and what our villagers are doing. TERRACE NEWS Celebrate Birthdays On Saturday, Feb. 10, Joyce and Len Toepper celebrated their birthdays at home with Len's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Toepper, and Len's brother, Ronnie, and his girl friend, Chris. On Sunday, Joyce and Lenny visited Joyce's parents wlro live in Salem, Wis. They spent an enjoyable weekend celebrating their birthdays. Jet Ride Don Kern made a business trip to Philadelphia last week, travelling by jet made the trip fast and pleasant. He left Monday morning, Feb. 12, and was back by Tuesday night. Altho O'Hare Field was covered by fog, a smooth instrument landing was made. All in all it was a pleasant experience. Get-well Wishes ^ Ron Wiggerman's mother is' home from McHenry hospital and feeling much better. The old flu bug has bitten a few Spring Grove BEGIN WOHK REMODELLING POST OFFICE QUARTERS Eva, Freund Work has begun on the remodelling for past office quarters of the brick building, known as the old bank building and recently occupied by Shirley's lunch room, on the southeast corner of Main and Blevin streets. Floor space and interior will be done according to specifications outlined by the Post Office department. It is expected that the post office will occupy these quarters by May 1. Birth Mr. and Mrs. William Thornton are the happy parents of a 9 lb., 15 oz. baby boy born Feb. 9. His name is Michael Robert. Little Mike has four sisters and' one very proud brother to welcome him home. Released from Hospital Charles Class is convalescing at his home from a severe break on his wrist. He will be required to wear a brace on his arm for six months. more of our residents. Mary Pritchard and Barb Zamistil are down with the flu this week. Birthday Greetings Birthday greetings of the day go to James Moore on Feb. 25 'and Marvin Phillips on Feb. 28. Mrs. Frank Tinney returned home from the hospital last Saturday. We are happy to report that she is feeling fine. Walter Monhardt had the misfortune to fall and break some of his ribs one day last week. Thursday* February 22, 1962 Florida Trip Mrs. Tillie May is leaving for Florida on Saturday. She will accompany Mr. and Mrs. Arnold May, they are going by Jet. Entertain Mr. and Mrs. Charles Freund entertained in their home on Saturday night. A roast beef dinner was servel and the evening was spent at cards. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Miller. Clubs Mrs. Alice Wagner was hostess to the members of the birthday club at her home on Tuesday afternoon. Games of five hundred were played and prizes went to Mrs. Mark Pierce, Mrs. Peet, Mrs. Van Every and Mrs. Tom McNally. A lovely lunch was served after cards. The Christian Mothers sodality of St. Peter's met at the parish hall on Thursday night for their regular meeting. Mrs. Ralph Todey, Home and School Chairman, suggested that the ladies give aid to the nuns during the noon hour and at the closing hour at school. It was also suggested that a hot lunch be served once a month. It was decided that hot dogs would be sold at a very low price the second Monday of each month starting with April. Father Lehman announced that he received a thank you letter from the Catholic Relief Association for the clothing and the Layettes that were sent in December. A day of recollection will be held sometime in the near future. After the meeting hot sandwiches and cake were served and cards were played. Rev. Edward Lehman and Rev. Thomas Monohan and the ushers of St. Peter's enjoyed having dinner out on Wednesday night. Cornish hen and all the trimmings was served. After dinner there was a social evening at cards in the parish hall. Ed Pankin Dies Ed Pankin. 66, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 11, following an illness of six months duration. The deceased was bom in Indiana and was a resident of Spring Grove for about one year. His wife, Nettie, mourns his passing. Funeral services were held at Ehorn Funeral home in Richmond on Wednes- O day. Trip Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Petska just returned from a trip through Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
