Cal Beise, whose wife, Darlenc, lives at 7715 Arbor road, Wonder Lake, completed eight weeks of military police training at the- Provost Marshal General center, Fort Gordon, Ga., Feb. 16. Beise received instruction in self defense, traffic control and the basic procedures of civil and military law. He entered the Army last September and received basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. Army Pvt. Ernest R. Gantert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Gantert, 5620 E. Lake Shore drive, Wonder Lake, completed the eight-week clerical course at the Armor Training ceriter. Fort Knox, Ky., Feb. 14. Gantert received instruction in typing, English grammar, Army correspondence, the preparation of morning reports and other clerical and administrative skills. He entered the Army last September and received basic training at the fort. The 22-vear-old soldier is a 1957 graduate of St. Benedict high school in Chicago and a 1961 graduate of St. Mary's college in Winona, Minn. H$ is a member of Phi Mu Alpha fraternity. Joseph A. Parisi, seaman apprentice, USN, son of Jasper Parisi of 1615 N. Meadow Lane, McHenry, is serving with the Little Creek Amphibious Training Command. Norfolk. Va., a unit of the Atlantic Fleet amphibious force, headquartered at Norfolk, Va., which celebrated its twentieth anniversary on Feb. 20. Organized on Feb. 20, 1942. the foice led every major Allied amphibious landing in North Africa a n d Europe during World War II. Vice Admiral Alfred G. Ward, commander of the Atlantic amphibs, sent a personal anniversary message to the men of his force praising their DR. RACK ADULT PSYCHIATRIST AT HEALTH CENTER Dr. Leonard Rack is the adult psychiatrist on the staff of the Mental Health center for McHenry County, 3514 W. Waukegan road, McHenry. Dr. Rack was born in Chicago and had extensive training at the University of Chicago, the University of Illinois Medical school. Duke University, and the California Institute of Technology. He has workxl at the psychiatric institute of Michael Reese hospital, the Chicago State hospital and the Institute for Juvenile Research. ROY ROLLINS Roy Rollins, 68 years old, father of Rose Marie and l„e» Roy Rollins of 1810 Park Lane, McHenry, died Sunday. Feb. 25, in Jacksonville. 111., of a heart attack. He was a native of Kentucky, where he was born May 10, 1893. Services were held Tuesday afternoon in Jacksonville. Mi's. Frances Mendyk and children attended last rites. Senator To Speak For McHenry Rotary On Thursday, March 8. members of the McHenry Rotaiy cluo will hear a talk on "Federal Matching Funds A Threat to State Governments" by Senator Robert McClory (R. Lake Bluff) of the Illinois Legislature. Senator McClory is a candidate for the new U. S. Congressional 12th' district which Covers the same territory he has been representing these past twelve years. OBSERVES ANNIVERSARY One of the city's oldest and most res]>ected residents, Mi's. Lena Bohr, celebrated her eighty-ninth birthday anniversary at several gatherings held this past week. Friends and neighbors called at her home at 1411 N. Court street on Saturday, Sunday and Monday to enjoy cards, visiting and lunch. Mrs. Bohr is in quite good health and active despite the fact that five years ago she suffered a broken hip and arm in a fall. Sunday to extinguish a fire in a car parked along the road. Damage estimated at $50 was reported to the 1958 station wagon as the result of a blaze which started when it backfired and sparks caught the air cleaner on top of the carburetor. ATTENDS CONVENTION, Dr. and Mrs. Howard S. Fike of McHenry were in Springfield the first part of last week attending the eightieth annual convention of the Illinois State Veterinary Medical association. Over 400 veterinarians from every part of the state, and about 100 members of the profession from out of the state, attended the meeting which concluded Wednesday noon. HOLD CEREMONIAL Mecca Legion No. 9 will hold a ceremonial at Elgin Lodge No. 799, Loyal Order of Moose, on Sunday afternoon, March 4.
