The basketball season is justa memory for the McHenry Warriors after losing to a fastpassing, hot-shooting Elgin team in the finals of the Crystal Lake Regional, 87 to 55. S The Warriors had little trouble against Crystal Lpke in a 74-51 victory. Next they edged Dundee 64-63. Almost blew a 12-point lead in this one. Both fouled out after a hard, but ineffective effort at scoring. But, nobody can say that our boys didn't rive it all they had. Elgin simply had way too much for us. The fans got "on" Charlie Gore. Elgin's star guard, for his Globe-Trotter stuff, but his ability to set up plays was very good. Elcin fans gave Harry May a lot of credit for his spirited play against boys who towered above him. Well, we got to the finals. Maybe some year we won't have to play Elgin in those finals. Better still--some year let's beat 'em. The big Forester basketball tournament swings intp the final round next Sunday. That is when the fun really begins. They battle hard for those trophies. And look for some St. P a t r i c k ' s Day s h e n a n i g a n s when it comes time for entertainment. We must look up that green tie for "Our Day". It's to let people know, we are Irish! Just listen to those Irish tunes as St. Patrick's Day nears. They'll warm your heart. WTe live again after hearing the likes o' Galway Bay. That unsigned letter last week asked "How about a great hand for our J. V. basketball team who only lost 3 games this season and ended in first place?" Well, how about it? Let's give 'em a big hand. Sounds gtwd for the firture. We thought the letter referred to our Sophs, the team which played preliminaries to the varsity games. Their record was not so good. The writer also thought it too bad some of those J. V. boys were not on the varsity. Give 'em time.
