^Thursday, March 00, 1962 THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Sunnygide Estates Welcome Two New Families Joan Walczynski - EV. 5-3105 ^ Our official welcomer, BernadLne Grist, welcomed two new families to our subdivision this week. May we introduce Andrew Eichhorn; his wife, Joanne; and year old son, Andrew, Jr., who reside at 4211 North Dennis Boulevard. They came to our community from Round Lake. Andrew works as a meat cutter in Wauconda and Joanne, like all mothers, finds that the baby keeps her time well occupied. Her hobby is gardening when she finds leisure hours and Andrew says he likes to loaf. We'd also like you to meet Ann and Kenneth Medeen and their children, 13 year old Shirley. 10 year old Vernon and 4 year old Dale. The Mcdeens come from Lombard. ijj^Ken is employed as a machini ist in Melrose Park. The fam- | ily hobby is travelling wheni ever possible; and young Shirley says she's looking forward 1o trying her hand at gardening this year. Good luck, Shirl. We're glad you both picked Sunnyside Estates to make your home and may we wish you many happy years here with us. Iw, Huge Success That's what the St. Pat's dance was. The crowd was big, the music was grand, the refreshments were plentiful, the mood was happy; and if you weren't there, you must have guessed by now, we had a ball. Three cheers to chairman, Harold Palmer, and to co-chair- «man, Ted Bierchen. A pat on "the back to all those who helped. I'm ready for the next dance, aren't you? Music Festival The sixth, seventh and eighth graders of St. John school attended a music festival at St. Mary's in Woodstock on March 26. I count myself fortunate h:iving been able to attend and rj will tell you all about it next week. Coming and Going: Mrs. Emma Olson of Mayfair Drive had Sunday visitors. Her daughter sn,d her husband, Mr. and Mrs. John Ayers of Munster, Ind., came out to spend the day, much to Emma's delight. Bernice Fry had luncheon guests the other day. Her parents and brother dropped In for a visit and were joined by Li> Davis and Carol Kennebeck. Shirley and Mel Simmons spent the weekend in Milwaukee, Wis., visiting her mother, Mrs. Lillian Hillman. who was ill. Mrs. Hillman lives with Shirley's sister, Mrs. Bernice Farina, so Shirley had a wonderful time visiting with the both of them, while Mel let his artistic ability take over again and painted another mural on Bernice's wall. Shirley tells me it's called the kissing bridge. All the neighbors came over to admire it. LaVerne and Kelly Noah took a drive to visit Carol and Bob Lasnek in their new home. LaVerne says it's just beautiful. Carol says she'; happy to have her folks with her but sure does miss her neighbors from Sunhyside Estates. Kelly says he'd like the house if he could bring it here. Elsie and Ernie Mueke, former residents here, dropped in a while back to visit with the Kimbros. Ciirl Scouts Four gals were missing when Troop 295 held their March 20 rreeting. After the business meeting Ihe girls started making their display for the Valley View Neighborhood Fair to be held April 29 at the McHenry Junior high school. Refreshment hostess was Susan Roggenbuck and she brought a cake which she had baked herself. The girls closed the meeting with the song. Run Along Home. Page Seventeen plans on meeting before April 5 so that they may be able to come up with some proposals concerning the roads. All those interested (and aren't we all?) should plan on attending to see what will be done. Bake Sale Our association will sponsor a bake sale on Saturday, April 14, to be held at the home of Helen and Keith Wegner, 1813 West Indian Ridge drive. All baking donations will be gratefully accepted. Coining' Soon A rummage sale. So, please start saving all that stuff you would otherwise throw out in the course of your spring cleaning,. and in the real near future I'll tell you where it may be dropped off, or whom you can call to have it picked up. Brownies Reporter for the Brownie Troop 150, Linda Hosier, reports that the officers at the March 24 meeting were Audrey Seliga as president, Karen Hettermann as secret aiy and Laura Smolinski ah treasurer. The girls started their project for the Neighborhood Fair. Also practiced the song Girl Scouts Together. The meting ended with a few ;ames. Cookie hostesses were Connie Jahlonski and Debby Stuhl. Mother helper was Mrs. Boeger. Let's Go Visiting Like I promised, we're going visiting. This week to Josephinf and Edward Marczyk who live at 2012 West Oakleaf Drive. (Jo's sister, Fran Fuqua, lives right next door.) Jo and Ed moved here from the southwest side of Chicago in 1959. They are both employed and work at the same concern in Chicago. Jo's hobbies include crocheting, gardening and she loves to read. Ed likes gardening and all sports, each in iis season, favoring horseshoe pitching in the summer. They're real grand folks and we're proud to claim them. Sick IJst This is the only part of the column I wish there would be no news for, but sad to say I do have some sickness to report. Last week I told you about William Schvveiger going into McHenry hospital fof surgery. Well, his wife. Bessie', beat him to it. After taking/ii! the latter part of the week, it was decided that surgery was in order. The operation was performed on Mawh 19 and Bessie came ifirdwgh it all just fine. / / v ^ Pat Spmdler entered Harvard hospital on March 21 where she underwent surgery on the twenty-third. Her son came in to l>c with her. and her neighbors. Alice Janicki and Helen Kobus, have been with her, as well. Two other of our residents were in McHenry hospital for observation. Jrene Roy was taken to the1 hospital on the eighteenth and released on the twenty-first. Kelly Noah was taken in on the nineteenth where a sprained ankle was discovered. He returned home on the twenty-second but has to stay off that foot for a few days. Mrs. Kimhro finally got that cast off her leg, but the doctor said she's to stay off it for at least three more weeks. She tells me that the weeks keep getting longer and longer. Jim Stevens wasn't able to go out on his routine trip this week due to a bout with a cold. Medication seems to be helping though. Well, they popped! All three little ones at our house. Mary, William and even Baby Paul have the chicken pox. Boy, that poor little guy of ours is sure starting out young with all the nasty stuff. My only consolation is that they all popped at once. The only stickler now is that dadly can't rem « miter if he ever had them. UDY BECKER': KENNEL! 1 Mile East of the Skyline Drive-In -J Phone EVergreen 5-2436 STUD SERVICE ...
