The girls enjoyed cake and ice cream and a few games. On Sunday, April 1, Debbie was again honored by another party for all her aunts and uncles, grandparents and of course her cousins. Birthday Doings Little Fatty Laursen had a birthday party on Saturday, March 31. She was 5 years old and happy to be able to eat all the cake and ice cream that she could. Bridge Club Meets The Bridge club met last Wednesday evening at the home of Louise McEnery. Those attending and enjoying the game and hi-caloried desserts were Ruth McMahon, Joyce Braum, Ann Liegh, Ann Herzog, Bernice Boyce, Ivy Lezak and Lucille Dietz. Bernice Boyce took first prize and Louise took second. 3720 W. Elm St. Jewel Shopping Plaza Attends Dinner Gladys and Art Hafer, Ivy and Stanley Lezak, Lyda and Bill Radisch and Ann and. Bill Herzog were among the Lakeland Parkers who attended the Methodist Men's annual ladies' night at the community Methodist church on Tuesday evening, March 27. The ladies all agree that the m^ji are wonderful cooks; and1 the dinner was most enjoyable because the "gals" didn't have to plan, cook or wash the dishes and clean up! * The guest speaker, Rev. John Paul Stafford, of Rogers Park was most entertaining and interesting. The quartette was very good and the grouR^singing was enjoyable. To®f bad such good things comeJ"only once a year"! After that though they really enjoyed nice, warm weather. Lyda and Bill were visiting with their daughter and sonin- law, Shirley and Charles Lexow, and grandchildren, Paul and Nancy, who are now making their home in Dallas. Both Bill and Lyda enjoyed visiting at the airport and watching the Astro Jets landing and taking off. While in Dallas they also visited Mr. and Mrs. Tom Coyle and family and Mrs. Phillip Whale.y. Also Mr. and Mrs. William Masters at Richardson. And when you have the time ask them about their visit to BIG TOWN at Mesquite, Texas. That was quite something. They also enjoyed their tour of Southern Methodist University where their son. Bill, had gone to school and wa$ also an assistant professor. Bill has quite a few tales to tell; one of his tavorite being about his taking Shirley and Lyda to lunch at a Mexican restaurant. Both girls "chickened out", Shirley ordering roast beef and Lyda shrimp, leaving Bill to uphold the family name by eating Mexican food. Lyda gets by by claiming they were shrimp from the Gulf of Mexico and were therefore Mexican-- but Shirley is at a loss to explain her choice. Pearson is a 41- year-old Crystal Lake farmerbusinessman- real estate owner with a background ojf solid service to his community. A member of the McHenry county board of supervisors for five years, Pearson has also rendered important community service in many other areas -- all give, him valuable background to better serve all the people in all the counties of the 32nd district. He is director. of a farmerowned cooperative; a school board member; director of the McHenry drainage district; director of the county-wide Health Insurance Association and a former assistant director of the McHenry County Farm Bureau. ' He farms a 400-acre dairy and grain farm and produces about 2,000 pounds of milk a day! With this background, you can understand why he is financially Responsible and physically and mentally capable to assume the serious job of representing voters in BtfongjiDe- Kalb, McHenry and Ogle counties. Dedicated to service, Pearson is able to communicate wit!) people, to understand the|r ideas and follow their suggestions. His goal is to serve the people in the counties he wants to represent. Pearson knows the, value of organized labor because it builds a strong middle class-- the backbone of our nation's strength against Communism. He al^o is realistic in his thinking and knows Illinois must improve its inequitable, obsolete and unfair tax schedule. Illinois must overhaul its Revenue Article, he believes. The personal property • tax -- an abominable tax -- must be abolished, he declares. In addition, all citizens have a responsibility to make better use of school funds. More than two-thirds of your tax dollars go toward _ schools. And the number of youngsters flooding into our elementary and secondary school systems contipu^ s to grow. With A1 Pearson in Springfield, you'll be kept informed on what's going on in your state government. A1 plans a regular report to the people of the district with news stories to newspapers and radio stations when the General Assembly is in session. The present tax burden falls on the small businessman, the laboring man and the farmer. Citizens of both parties must work together to bring about adoption of a new Revenue Amendment. Vote for a Democrat who acts and votes like a Democrat. Assure yourself of genuine representation in Springfield next term. Political Adv. Trip to Texas And who brought the SNOW to Dallas, Texas? Well, it seems as if Lyda and Rill Radisch are being blamed! A day or two after their arrival in JJallas there was some snow but it didn't last long. The headlines in the papers predicted 2" to 4" but they assure us it was very light; but the Texans' faces were red, after bragging about their wonderful summer weather.
