DISTRICT 15 V" - V THOMAS R. DAVIS , Thomas R. Davis of 3202 W. Golf View Terrace, McHenry, seeks a board position in District 15. A nine-year resident of the community, he is a graduate of Tilden Technical high school, Chicago, and also graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. degree in engineering. A veteran of World War II he flew a tour of combat with the Eighth Air Force in England. Mr. Davis was formerly employed by the Nelson L. Davis Co., in McHenry and is now a sales specialist in underground transportation equipment with the Goodman Manufacturing Co., Chicago. He and his wife, Bernadette "Boots" Davis, have two boys and two girls, Kimberly, 11, and Bruce, 9, in Junior high and Edgebrook schools, re- MARGARET L. HAUG Margaret L. Haug is completing twelve years on the board of District 15, which she now serves as president, and seeks re-election. Mrs. Haug is vice-president of the Shalimar Improvement association, a member of tfife W.S.C.S. of the Community Methodist church and was a charter member of the McHenry P.T.A. She is employed as bookkeeper for the Kent Corp. She has lived in McHenry for the past twenty-two years and resides at 2423 N. Orchard Beach road, Shalimar. Mrs. Haug and her husband, Walter, have two sons, Larry and Robert. Larry graduated from McHenry high and completed his second year at the University of Illinois, Navy Pier, before going into service. Robert, like his brother, is a local high school graduate and at present is completing his second year at Chicago Technical college. The Haugs have two grandchildren. WILLIAM H. TONYAN, SR. William ' H. Tonyan, Sr., of 1621 N. Park avenue, McHenry, is a candidate for board member in District 15. Now semiretired he started Tonyan Construction Co. thirty-eight years ago but is no longer with the business. A lifelong resident of McHenry, he has been married for thirty-two years and has six children, four boys and two girls, five of whom attended the local high school. Mr. Tonyan is a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He has shown special interest in civic and public affairs. night college, Waukegan. high evening school and West Virginia Wesleyan college while serving in the Army Air Corps. For the past five years, he has been employed by the Frank G. Hough Co., as a layout-draf tsman. Wittrock, a graduate of Steinmetz high school, Chicago, has since then studied at Northwestern university mwmm ROBERT BECKENBAUGH Robert Beckenbaugh of 3904 W. Oak avenue, McHenry, is new to the field of contenders in District 156. He is a graduate of McHenry high school in 1936 and attended management schools and night school in accounting at Northwestern university. A former employee of the Lake Shore Athletic club, serving five years as assistant auditor, and at Omar Bakeries as salesman and supervisor, he was also in the insurance business in Rockford and Elgin. A year and a half ago he entered business for himself. ARTHUR J. STILLING Arthur J. Stilling is a can?- didate for re-election for a position on the high school board of education. A resident of 4302 W. Ringwood „ road, he is now completing two terms as a member of this board. Mr. Stilling is a lifelong resident of McHenry, and received his education in the local schools. He owns and operates his own dairy farm a mile east of Ringwood. He is a member of the Johnsburg Community club. Mr. Stilling has three children, Lawrence, '20, serving in Two special Easter season displays -- one featuring empty egg shells converted into dozens of realistic impersonations of colorful figures, including George Washington, a Spanish senorita, a Russian tsar, and even a convincing likeness of Bushman, the famed gorilla -- and the second comprised of beautiful potted plants and other lifelike f l o r a l g r o u p i n g s , p r o d u c e d mainly from either broken egg shells or pulverized egg shells -- is open at the Museum of Science and Industry.. Providing an unusual opportunity for amateur decorators to get some novel ideas for the armed forces, Richard, 17, a senior in the local high school, and Alan 9, a fourth grade pupil in St. John's school, Johnsburg. His wife is the former Isabel Freund. FRED A. MARKS Fred A. Marks of 7409 Hiawatha drive, Wonder Lake, is running for re-election in District 156, where he is completing his third term of office. A pipe fitter by trade, Mr. Marks is a native of Jersey City, N.Y., where he was educated. He has been a resident of this area for twentythree years. Mr. Marks and his wife, Marie, have one child and three grandchildren. their own Easter table adornments, the display will continue through Easter Sunday. Admission to the Museum and the exhibits is free. This timely exhibit represents the handiwork of Mrs. Hazel Tilley, 5528 Hyde Park Blvd., and Mrs. Lydia Albeeker, 7031 South Rockwell. In producing her creations, which Include little threedimension dioramas and statuary beside pseudo-human figures, Mrs. Tilley uses crates of eggs. Taking them in their original uncooked state, she cracks" them slightly with a knife, breaks off sections of the shells, drains the insides, and then decorates or dresses them with such odds and ends as paper clips, old jewelry, pipe cleaners, and pieces of silk and lace. Each egg is given an individual holiday character. In addition to their exterior trimmings, Mrs. Tilley cuts windows into many of them, paints their interiors, and then inserts tiny figurines to produce enticing peep shows. Mrs. Albecker's specialty Is flowei;s made from broken egg shells. She does wonders in coloring and arranging pieces of the egg shells into intricate and beautiful flowers that almost seem alive. Her one departure in the exhibit from the floral theme is a circus scene featuring gay figures of an Easter rabbit, a circus clown, and a duck. WITH TOURING BAND Sara Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fredric W. Wood of McHenry, a sophomore at Cornell college, will be a member of the college band which will ^ make seven concert «• appearances in north central Iowa . during their three-day annual, spring tour April 10 to 12.
