Lucky Girl Anyone who can take a vacation at this time of the year to leave behind this nasty weather we've been having for the temperature of the Florida climate is, in my opinion, a very lucky girl. Her name te Mary Ann Berg. She, along with three girl friends, made the trip to Fort -Lauderdale, Fla., by car, where, they spent the time swimming, sunbathing, watching the sway of the (jpalm trees,. . . Oh, why go on?! , Mary Ann tells me that the temperature ranged from 85 to 90 degrees the entire duration of their stay. How she ever got the courage to return is beyond me. Brownies Troop 150 had an interesting meeting this week, according to reporter, Karen Hetter- ^nann. They learned Kow to use a compass and then used them on an Easter egg hunt. Clever idea. The girls also learned a new song entitled "Linger" and their flag rug was wotfced on. Officers this week were Rhonda Schultz as president, Laura Karstens as secretary, and Doreen Patterson as treasurer. Cookie hostesses were Marie Karstens and Kathleen Brennan, and Mother Helper was Maria Kern. Traveler Another traveler in out midst is, Cliff Sabby who left this past week on a two week trip to Louisiana and Texas. Cliff, along with her two sisters and her daugnter, lnes Wilke, will travel by car visiting along the way. We'll tell you more about the places seen upon her return. Girl Scouts - Troop 295 held a motherdaughter meeting at the home of Troop Leader, Marge Barth. Alt' future events concerning the girls were, discussed and the girls completed their project for the neighborhood fair. Their meetings shall continue to be held on Tuesday evening and the meeting place has returned to Mrs. Barth's home. Cuttes Puppies, puppies, everywhere. First, at the Wegner home we have four new beagle puppies and, if I'm not mistaken, quite unusual in that they are all males. Sorry, they're all claimed already. Next, good old Cindy at the Anderson home had a litter of six. As of this writing we're not sure just yet what is what, but they're cute and loveable. Sick List That bug, Mr. Flu, is back again (or should I say still around). The entire Bieschke family is feeling awful and the Kobus family is playing tag with the bug. Pat Spindler is still in the hospital. As I understand it, she was due to come home, but some complications set in, and she had to stay a while longer. Then, of course, you all have no doubt heard of my recent sk$y in Mc- Rehry hospital. Poor LaVerne and Kelly Noah had nine children for a\ few days. She worked wonders with baby Paul though. He even sleeps through the night for me now. Everything is back to normal, vocal chords and all. Let's Go Visiting This week we call at 4401 North Boulevard, the home ol my sister and her husband, Loretta and Bob Mikkelsen. They moved to Sunnyside Estates from the northwest part of Chicago in October of 1955. Lor and Bob met each other in Chicago where they were married on the sixteenth of August, 1^47. They have two sons, Michael, eleven years of age, and Eric, eight years of age. Bob is employed as a compositor in a printing plant in Chicago. Lor>works part tunc in the local vicinity. Micky and Richy both attend - Johnsburg public school where they are in the sixth and second grades, respectively. Lor enjoys reading and Bob and the boys love to fish, especially when they can go to Northern Wisconsin where Grandma and Grandpa Mikkelsen have a resort. Their Grandma and Grandpa Holtfodt have just moved next door to them so they're really living. As a family, the Mikkeisens are a close-knit one, and usually do things together. So, may we all say again, "Howdy, Neighbor." Happy Occasions Today little Jeff Radtke becomes two years old. Happy birthday, Jeff. Herb Rose celebrates on the twenty-seventh, and John Mischke on the twenty-ninth. Our 'teen-age miss of the week is Pattie Voight who will become fourteen on the thirtieth. That day is also shared by Stan Smolinski. Happy Birthday one and all. Our only anniversary of the week belongs to Charlotte and Dale Maule who celebrate eight years of married life on May 1. Best wishes to you both. May you all enjoy many, many more of these happy occasions. Signing Off I would like to begin with an apology for not having wished each and everyone of you a Happy and Blessed Easter in last week's column. It takes a little while to get used to writing a week in advance, as we must, and therefore I overlooked it. I'm sorry and will try to do better. My thoughts and prayers were with all or you regardless. Call me with your holiday doings and any other tidbit of news you might have. I'll be waiting for your calls. 'Bye now.
