Thursday, April 26. 1962 THE McHENHY PLAHTDEALEH Pago N!ngUta Holiday Hills ROADS IN GOOD CONDITION AFTER SPRING THAW ^ Inez Yoimg Well, I think we can safely say since spring has finally arrived. we're finally enjoying some warm weather, the channels have gone down and maybe I'm wrong, but I think we've seen the last of our snow. The trees are beginning to bud and here and there you can see spring flowers in bloom -- Easter bonnets and Spring coats, new shoes and isn't spring wonderful. Now that the spring thaw is over, have you noticed how nice our roads are compared to other years. Aside from one or two bad spots we've been very fortunate to have our roads in such good condition. A good deal of credit for the grading goes to Knute Pahlke who hps given hours of his time C%id saved us a considerable amount of money by running the grader on our gravel roads. Sunset Drive is being worked on now and will soon be back in shape again. The last few years have surely shown progress in the condition of our roads. Jack Holterhoffer, Carl Reynolds, Con Kasprzyk, Rich Wyczesany and anchor man, Bill Mabon. Spelling Bee sfcTwo fourth grade gins from holiday Hills participated in a spelling bee head at McHenry Junior high at Achievement night, April 12. Five pupils from each fourth grade class at Edgebrook, Hilltop and Valley View schools were chosen. Sandy Csuti and Pam Potratz were among the children chosen. This means they were among the best in ,|fceir classes. Nice going Pam Ibid Sandy! Bowling Trophy The next time you drive by the Baird home check their front window -- I'm not sure but you might just see a big trophy. You see Ray sponsored a team in the Friday night league in, Wauconda and they took first place. It's not that C^e's proud of his team -- but I don't think you'll have to coax him to see the trophy. Members of this first place team are Capt. Bill Mahon, who marked up a 175 average, Roy Duncan, Fran Clark, Bob Creedon and Joan Bartel, who took over for Ray when he had his operation. Athletic Club News Bowling is in the news this week. The Athletic club took its first trophy for first place in the Island Lake league. They had it by 2^ games. Team members were Capt.
