I know the children enjoyed their small vacation from school. Heard from some of the folks about their Easter doings. Marge and Harpld Palmer and children, Cathy, Sherwood, Marty and Larry, spent the day in Wheeling at Marge's sister's home; Jean and Earl Eaton. Besides the ,Eatons own four children, those attending were Grandma and Grandpa Giannini and Uncle Joe. They had a most enjoyable day full of fun and laughs. When they returned home they dropped in at the Jerry Olsen residence for a little while to round out the day. . Millie and George Kropf hosted an Easter dinner enjoyed by their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Becvar and Mr. and Mrs. Max Kropf, as well as Mil's sister, Vi Crane. Their son, Ray, and houscguest, Lill Michaelson and son, Tom, were also present. Needless to say, all spent a lovely, filling day. Shirley and Mel Simmons had company over Easter weekend. Shirl's mom, Mrs. Lillian Hillman, and Shirl's sister, Mrs. Bernice Farina, and her two children came out on Saturday. They worked hard, ate good and had a fine time. The Simmons children, Ciniiy and Buster, enjoyed it most of all. Helfcn and Keith Wegner entertained Keith's three brothers for the weekend. „ What to Chicago to Grandma Walczynski's house for dinner. Stan's sister and her husband, Aida and Stan Zmudzki (with whom Grandma Waiczynski makes^ her home) played host to the Waiczynski and Anderson families. The Andersons include Janet, Jim, Steve and Mary-Jo. Along with the Zmudzki children, Susan, Pegearly. As it turned out La- Verne spent Easter Sunday, as well as the following week, in McHenry hospital. She got extremely ill Saturday night and was taken to the hospital, where, through the course of tests and x-rays they discovered that she had an infection in her pelvic region. Grandma Johnston stayed on to take Wonder Lake NEW REPORTER WRITES COLUMN FOR WONDER LAKE Gloria Coughiin - W. The proud parents, Bunny and John, were happy to hove Grandma Mischke come out over the weekend and iak£ over the home front with entile miss Bobby and Eri^, offering their able assistance. Mother and baby are home now and doing just fine. Congratulations to all of you! Travelers Cliff Sabby returned from her spur of the moment vacation trip and tells me it was just grand. She and her sister, Juanita Rivrud, and Cliffs I daughter, Inez Wilke, made J the t^fp by car to New Orj leans just to sight see and then I on to Fort Worth, Texas, j where they visited with Cliff's I two nieces and families, Margaret and Ralph Brown and Loretta and Jake Meink was just grand, she said, but there's no place like home. Another traveler in our midst was Miss Linda Janicki. She, along with approximately as David said "you been gone | too long already, Mom." ! Cathy Palmer was another | gal who spent a few days in i the hospital. This was not as unexpected however. Cathy went .in for a tonsillectomy and is home now and doing ' fine. Little Robert Von Oepen, just two months old, is anoth- ; er one in our midst who required a hospital stay. He had an upper respiratory infection : and was in the hospital in ordel- to keep it from going into pneumonia. This was why Daddy Ernie stayed home with , him so Gloiia could attend her ; folk's silver anniversary celebration. ^ Young Eric Mischke got himself a cracked collar bone just before the holiday. No cast or sling was needed, just a watchful eye so that he wouldn't fall and injure it further. Happy Occasions Birthday greetings go to Lois Anderson on May 4; on May 5 they go to Jack Davis and Debra Fuqua who will be five years old. On May 7 Martin Williams celebrates his nalt j tal day and May 8 is shared by three gentlemen, Bud Kennebeck, Wally Roy and Kenny Bott, who will be seven years old. Linda said : the trip was wonderful but tiring and it was real rous^h getting up for school Wednes- : day morhing. since they had ; just returned home Tuesday k evening. What a wonderful op- I portunity for these young ( folks to see part of our coun- ] try in this manner. ! Signing Off I honestly did expect more phone calls this week with Easter doings and all. So, if it that I write about the same ones all the time, it's because they are the ones I hear from. So. call me and see your name in print. 'Bye now„ approximately seventy people. The date of the anniversary was April 17, but since it fell during the Lenten season the celebration was postponed until Easter. After the delicious dinner, there was music and dancing and Gloria tells me even little Ernie and Marty were doing the Twist. The Paszkiet s received numerous gifts in keeping with the silver theme. One of the no\yl ideas • were a set of dishes and on each plate was attached a silver dollar. Gloria's sister, Elaine, also presented the folks with a money t r e e ' made with silver coins. Gloria attended the celebration with the two oldest boys and Ernie stayed home with the youngest, Robert. The Waiczynski family spent the day most happily. As usual, it started off with an Easter egg hunt. When all but one egg had been found, things started to get frantic, because Daddy c o u l d n ' t remember where the Easter Bunny told him he had hidden them all. It was finally found amid squeals and yells and poor lit- " tie Paul just sat there in his jumper chair looking from one '"to the other as though we had all just lost our minds. We then dressed up for church and it was real nice to attend Mass altogether again, since we've been going in shifts. On the way home frim church we dropped into visit Grandma and Grandpa Holtfodt. Shapiro last week called for public support of Gov. Otto Kernel's "action" program for highway safety. In an address at the opening session of the Illinois Traffic Court conference at Northern Illinois university, he said the real test of the success of our efforts to reduce traffic accidents will be determined by the extent to which local communities adopt and implement the recommendations contained in the "action program" at the grass roots level. "Slogans, gimmicks and drives yield no lasting benefit." he said. "The real remedy lies in a balanced program, fully used by public officials and fully supported by the public on a continuing basis." and had a very happy anni- • versary.
