Woman's club is planning an ice cream social again this year. The date is set for Sunday, July 22. There will be a bicycle and buggy parade so come on kids start thinking of decorating ideas. There will be prizes awarded for the nicest decorations. ^ Carnival Results Well the carnival is finally over and the kids have settled down with the "gimme money" bit and the results look good. There was a good turnout due to the fine efforts and long, hard work of the carnival committee. all the helpers and the - fair.weather we had. The first ni^ht all . the workers carried on even without lights which mdidn't go on till about 9:30, as we had a little trouble with the transformer. Itr-^e^a sight to see all those flashlights gointr off and on. Did you ever * see food cooked and served by flashlight? Well that's what the kitchen committee had to do and they did a marvelous job. too. Good work! McCulIom Lake Restoration Fund A plea, is being made to every home owner around the lake to make a contribution to get our lake clear again. Please, send in or bring to any of the following by July 4, as this must be done early in the gionth of July, Mrs. J. Oakford, secretary, 4711 W. Bonner Drive, and Mrs. L. Strandquist, clerk, 5119 W. Shore Drive. Make checks payable to McCulIom Lake Restoration Fund or any amount of cash. Wanted--Helpers The beach committee is in need of some help to maintain our beaches. Jim Wickenkamp and Bill Casey are the chairmen for this. They would appreciate it very much if some of you men would come down on any Monday night and give them a hand cleaning up the beach and the grounds. So come on you mien who have a few hours to donate bring your rakes, wheel " barrels and" sickles and meet Jim and Bill at the beach and they will put you to work. Oh, yes, the time is around 5:30 or 6 p.m. until dark. Little League News Schedule for the coming week: Sunday, July 1-- Braves vs. Pirates; Monday. July 2-- Sox vs. Cubs; Tuesday, July 3, Braves vs. Tigers: Wednesday. July 4 --Orioles vs. Pirates. Thursday, July 5 --Sox vs. Braves. In the games last week the Braves lost to the Sox 12 to 24; the Pirates took the Tigers 7 tP 5 and the Cubs beat the Braves 9 to 8. The Sox and Orioles were rained out and the Tigers and Cubs game was postponed. ATTENTION The Lakeland Park Boy's baseball club is treating the boys to an outing on Saturday, June 30, at Comiskey field to see the Sox play the Cleveland Indians. All boys should report to the community house at 9:30 sharp. Bring your lunches and spending money and wear your uniform. Remember, it will be a long day so take enough to eat and enough money. Have a good time boys. Anniversary Wishes To Grace and Ed Manisaria who celebrated twenty-three years of wedded bliss on June 24. To Judy and Rich Janczak who had an anniversary on June 21. Birthday Doings Darlene Pike celebrated her thirteenth birthday with a pajama party on June 9. Her overnight guests were Barb O l s e n , M a r i a F i s c h e r . P a t Carla, Arlene Kleinhuizen and Sharon Wagner. The girls enioved dancing and' refreshment^ before retiring for the I night. Sharon Wagner celebrated her birthday on June 17 by treating a few of her friends to a bowling party. Her friends are Vickey Ascola, Darlene Pike and Barb Olsen. This was Sharon's thirteenth birthday. Fran Cina was hostess for the birthday club last Tuesday, June 19, at her home in Dundee. The party was in honor of . Marge Franklin's birthday which was June 11. Other members attending were Esther Cygan, Elaine Jett, Jean Parisi, Vickey Bottari, M i l l i e P i n t o z z i a n d R u t h Roach. Rita Zimny, Dorothy Humphreys and Gloria Flannigan were unable to attend. Little Eddie Bock had a birthday parly last Thursday, June 21, in honor of his fifth birthday. His mom, Doris, took Buchie Brunow, Roger Gerstad and Billy Oakford and Eddie down to the beach for a swimming party then served cup-cakes and kool-aid after their swim. They had fun until it started to rain and they hit for home. On Sunday, June 24, Eddie Bock's guests were grandma and grandpa McCuistion from Chicago and grandma and grandpa Bock also/from Chicago and aunt and (uncle. Mr. and Mrs. Weber. Tms also was celebrated with a beach party. To help Barbara Osman celebrate her eighth birthday last Wednesday evening with cake and ice cream were the following people, Evelyn Kaminske, and children, Donna and Donny, Nora Hjerstedd and son, Scotty, John and Dorothea Zimmney and children, Linda, Pammy and Paulr and their friend, Wendy, Barbara's uncle Jack and aunt Nancy and son. Patrick, from Chicago and Michelle, Kathy ann Timmy Grant also from Chicago and of course her sister, Jody, and mom and dad. Welcome Summer Friehds Our summer neighbors, Gloria and Ken Vanek and their children, J o 1 y n and Frank, are out now for the summer. Ken works in Chicago and comes out on weekends and Gloria and the kids have various friends out visiting and enjoying our ciean fresh air all summer long. Frank is a member of the Orioles baseball team, so baseball games are also enjoyed. It's nice to have you out folks and we hope you'll have a nice summer. Attends Church Picnic The Georges, Gerstad s, Meurers and the Matthews attended the Methodist church picnic at the Hans residence last Sunday. It started with the church service under the trees at 11:30, then dinner, and games in the afternoon for all ages. A wonderful time was had bv all. Jaycee Steak Fry On Saturday evening Bob and Jan Kozy, .Don and Toots Gerstad and Harry and Esther Cygan attended the Jaycee steak fry which was held in Veterans Acres. There were eighteen couples attending. Flower Girl Honors Nancy Matthews had the honor of being flower girl for the queen, Sandy Fairchild, at the installation of the Jobs Daughters. It was held in Mc- Henry on June 16. Attends Graduation The Matthews attended the graduation of Jesse's sister, Kathy Reid. from high school on Saturday evening. On the way they stopped for their daughter, Nancy, who had been spending a few days with her aunt and uncle in Niles. Vacationers Jesse and Bob Matthews have a guest this week. She is their niece, Debbie Sandri, of Chicago. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bruchaber spent the day, Monday, with friends Julia and Waller Traft at their horrie in Pell Lake. Visitors ' John and Gloria Flannigan were paid a visit by Gloria's aunt. Miss Adeline Stochl, from Cicero last Wednesday. Their visitors last Saturday were John's friends, Jim Flanagan and Duke Bartik, also of Cicero. The Charles Campo family had company last weekend when Grace's sister, Angie Mc- Intyre, arrived Friday evening by train. Then in Sunday her other sister, and family, Babe and her husband, Chuck Salazar and two sons, Chuckie and Billy, came out. They spent sortie time down at the beach and then ht>me for a barbecue supper. Last Thursday Evening the Gerstads were visited by Don's sister, Dorothy Gerstad, who is from Miami, Fia. Sh-^ is staying with their folks in Sun Prairie, Wis. Sunday she and the Gerstads reciprocated the visit whfn they went to Sun Prairie to attend a farewell supper for her. Matt's mother, spent the weekend with them and on Sunday Sue's mother, Mrs. Mester, her nephew, Melvin, and Greg Sims, sister Kathy. and her friend, Eddie, brother, Chuckie. paid them a visit. They had an enjoyable day as they went to the beach, visited the carnival and had a back yard barbecue. Rosemary a n d Bud Haase and their five children, Bob, McHENRY GIRLS ATTEND SECOND FTA INSTITUTE Thirty-nine Illinois boys and girls received a good bockground in teacher education and requirements for a good teacher last week at Northern Illinois u n i v e r s i t y.
