He rushed off without supper to get to his mother's bedside, where he found she was in a coma. She since has rallied and has returned home, and alt ho she is still quite ill she has made a very good improvement. This was a yei*y fearful time for the Steadmans. Home on Leave SP-4 Ralph Jailer has returned home on leave from Fort Riley. Kansas. Alt ho after driving the almost 700 miles from the Fort, he still had four or five days left to visit with his Mom and Dad, and Janet and Tommy. Clarence and Marian have their vacations at the same time, which affords the family a good chance to catch up on all the past time during which they didn't see each other. We welcome Ralph home, and understand that he expects to be home permanently in October. Good luck, Ralph. Our Pride We are sure that there is a set of parents in our village j who have muc^i to be proud of. i They are Mr. and Mrs. C. Bost-1 ler. Their daughter, Janet, has j recently graduated from N.I.U. | and will be teaching beginning I the September term at Edgebrook school. She has been as- ; signed to the third grade there 1 in McHenry. She has complet- j ed ,her bachelor of science in j education and no town could ; be more proud of any young : woman than Lakemoor is of \ Janet. We all wish you, Janet, j much good fortune in your ; teaching career. : Mistaken Identity Mrs. Bertha Burger attended ihe party given for her granddaughter. Carol Pinkonsly, at Sunny side last Sunday. In the course of conversation with her daughter. Shirley Schuerr. we discovered that Bertha has lx>en the victim of mistaken identity. It seems that a Bertha Berger has been in the hospital and relatives and friends of hers have been in contact wiih Shirley to find out how Bertha was. Shirley assures us that her mom is in the pink of condition, working hard, and enjoying life --- e v e r y g o l d e n m i n u t e o f i t . Postponement The rummage sale and card party, originally scheduled for the thirtieth of .Tune has been canceled. The L.I.A. plans to have this party in the near future. but details have come up which mdke it necessary to postpone their plans for a short while. Keep watching your column for notice that the party is on again. Lakemoor Scouts Our color guard and drill team of the Lakemoor Scouts are preparing for a busy weekend. They will march at Hazelcrest on Saturday, and at Mundelein on Sunday. Any folks who will be in these areas those days should try to turn out and see our fine team. Seminarians Home We have, in our village, four Semi narians, who are all home on vacation. Various news tidbits must be phoned into me no later than noon this Friday, June 29; if they are to appear in next week's paper. Please keep this deadline in mind. Stress Caution It hfts been brought to my attention that when the siren blows summoning the rescue squad members out on a call, various cars follow the ambulance to the emergency scene. This is a hindrance to the squad. These fellows are not out for a joy ride when the squad ambulance goes out so please do not make their job any harder than it is. There has even been times when sightseers have- followed the squad right up to the scene of emergency and on occasion have blocked their exit. The members who answer these calls for medical aid try to get out as fast as possible where it is necessary. Anyone following the ambulance and the members' cars, hindering their work, will bg ticketed. Please avoid this r"by just remaining wherever you are when that siren blows. Urgent Call Answered Harriette Marshall knows now there are many people in this world with a big heart. Even though these persons were not acquainted with her 'teen-age nephew, blood donors from Woodstock, McHenry, Wonder Lake and Johnsburg answered the desperate call for blood. It was announced on a local radio station that Harriette was trying to get as many donors as possible as her nephew was undergoing open heart surgery .at Billings in Chicago. The young lad was in great danger through this surgery and forty-eight pints of blood was given to him. Harriette says her sister will never be able' to thank these persons enough but they will be remembered in her daily prayers. Clarence Smith and Tim Marshall were two of the donors from here. I Goofed! Every now and then my wires get crossed when it comes to dates and last week was one of those times. Your own bouyancy is working for you. Even so, warns the Institute for Safer Living, .gravity claims many water victims each year because they have not learned to float or tread water properly. Master these two methods of keeping your head above water and-you can overcome gravity's force easily. FOUR HORSEMEN Beware of, the Four Horsemen of the Weaves. But the Bettenhausens, like all of us, are paying less for it per kilowatt hour than they did years ago. One reason for this i%the Power Grid System which connects oar power lines with companies in thirty-two other states. With this system we can often buy (or sell) power at advantageous rates which helps keep the price you pay down. That's another reason why it costs so little to live better electrically today! Tin R.
