Hearty fare consisting of barbecued beef, bakery buns, chips 'n' dip, pickles, olives, and tempting cookies was consumed with gusto. A very nice way to wrap up a very successful season. There is always a great deal of talent displayed and the ideas illustrated are many and varied. Lois Parenti is the gal in charge and this event is for lassies from 2-10. "Roys on bikes" will wheel around the basketball court at 4:30 p.m. under the watchful and guiding eye of Louise Hammerstein. This is confined to lads in the 2-12 years, age bracket. Plenty of oooh's and aaaah's when you 3ee how, well a 2 or 3 wheel bike can be camouflaged. Highlight of the day is the crowning of an "itsy bitsy" queen at 7 p.m. These little dolls look like just that when Wee One Suffers Broken Limb A most unfortunate accident for wee Peggy Burg recently when her little leg was broken and had to be put in a cast. She was hospitalized in McHenry over night. It happened as she was being taken home from M a r i o n Scarbrough's plaqg.She cares for the little one ouring the day while mother Marie is gainfully employed. Her leg became entangled in the spokes of a bike. According to the baby sitter, Peggy is a "stoic American Indian" about her misfortune. Bob and Kay Mitchell gave a big parly Saturday night on the occasion of their fifth w e d d i n g a n n i v e r s a r y . S e v e n couples attended. It was held in their basement decollated for just that purpose and in a party thenie. They played^ adult games, had a great deaf of food and other refreshments, and did a lot of "Twisting". by Lil and Mark Ringelstetter and the boys. The four' of them motored to northern Wisconsin in their dreamy new red convertible for one week. The second week was spent in jaunts up and down tnfeHP^aa River in their boat. Imagine Harriet tadtf c N amara's chagrin when her two charming sisters who are visiting in her home attended the soiree given by the Ladies of the Lake and proceeded to garner a whole mess of the prizes! The two women are Erna Pagel of Donaldson, Ind. and Ida Zahlman of Knox, Ind. It seemed like they just couldn't lose. Between the two of them, they accounted for six "wins". They did try to refuse but members of the club said they won--fair and square. The 1rio has been having a grand time and they were joined last week by Harriet's son and family from Des- Plaines, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McNamara, and baby Nancy. All Good Things Must End Including the grand vacation trip and shenanigans enjoyed Beginner's Luck This diminutive momma, Melinda Adams, must have set some kind of a record. She joined her bowling team from a Crystal Lake company last fall with no previous experience and ended up with a first place trophy! It adorns the living room in tha Scarbrough hacienda. Bet the other gals on the team are mighty proud of her. The entire team placed lirsl, of course. Sorry We Missed The fifty-second anniversary of the nuptials of Marie and Anton Hagei as of June 25 and the twenty-seventh wedding anniversary for Henrietta and Harold Vycital, June 28. Fifty people attended and they caught up on all the news of the past year. Tim and Lois McCormack, Tom and Rita Simpson and Tom and Helen Birmingham all attended the Marian Central high school Mothers and Fathers dinner dance at the VFW Tuesday evening. Maureen McCormack had a birthday party Friday, June 22. Her favorite gift was a bicycle from her parents. Walter and Eleanor K u c k ^nd family went to the home of Jolinny and Norma Ruckert in Pell Ldke, Wis. They did a _;reat deal of swimming and enjoyed a back yard barbecue. Louise Griffeth is keeping her one-year old nephew, Chris Danaher, for two weeks while his parents are on vacation. Kay Stephenson has-. been busy this past week entertaining her California nephew, Billy DeVinny. Saturday she had his mother and two sisters and her mother all out for the day and a family cook-out. During the week Kay Stephenson and children enjoyed a luncheon in the McHenry home of Mrs. Doris Walker. They plan to spend the weekend in Wilmette.
