She will have to be confined to her home for about three months, and time goes very slowly when you are alone. It was quite a vacation for Pat Low this month, a trip to Mexico, accompanied by Mrs. Vale Adams. Two years ago, Pat's folks, Walt and Doris Low went to Mexico and met a very nice pen pal for Pat. For the past two years Pat has been corresponding with her in hopes of some day meeting in person. This year her dream came true. They flew from O'Hare Field in Chicago on July 9, destination: Mexico. Mrs. Adams and Pat had a most enjoyable trip spending time with Pat's pen pal. On July 14 tfiey departed for O'Hare field and were met by Pat's folks. The girls have hopes of meeting again in the not too distant future and, keeping up their friendship. Last Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Thomas were breakfast guests in the Walter Low family. Over many cups of coffee, a "Mexico" talk was enjoyed by all. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas had been to Mexico two years ago with the Lows, so Pat had lots to tell them about. returned home to Chicago with the above on Sunday evening. Bridal Shower in Pope Home Mrs. Dorothy (Pope) Petsha was guest of honor at a bridal shower held in the Pope home by her sister, Miss Judy Pope, on Thursday evening. Beatty-Low Reunion The family reunion of the Beatty family was held Sunday at the Walt Wilcox home in Woodstock. Among those from here attending were Grandma Beatty, Mrs. Viola Low, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Low, Pat, Donna, Linda, Susie. Pam, Tommy and Ray. Grandma Beatty also celebrated her birthday on Tuesday. She was 91 years young. Happy birthday wishes go out to Grandma, who is enjoying her good health and her family. Vacation The Ray Harringtons and their children spent two weeks fishing in Minnesota and took time out to go to Canada. It will be a well remembered vacation. Births Harriet Phillips became an aunt again when her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. John Robertson of Elmhurst were blessed with a baby girl, 5 lbs., 2 ozs. on July 13. Vacationers Many from the Terrace have been vacationing both at horftc and away. Jean and Joe Benoche, Jeannie and Susan, spent a weekend in Louisville, Ky„ visiting Joe's grandfather. Joe Waener. Joe's niece. Joanne Locke of Clarendon Hills, spent several days with the Benoches. They and their house guests attended a barbecue at the home of Joe's mother, the Chester Crowleys of Sunnyside Village, honorine Verna Welch of Northlake who was visiting the Crowleys. Cindy Kettner and daughter, Linda, have returned from a two-week stay with her parents in Carroll. Iowa. Bob drove out the last weekend to bring them home. The Bob Froehligs enjoyed his week's vacation at home. Fishing took up most of Ewald Pradelski's time but Virginia and the children managed to corral him for a day at the zoo. Mitch and Ronnie Sabaj and sons along with Louise Jankowski, Pat Merhant and Marcia spent a day 3t Brookfield zoo and another picnicking at Cedar lake where Tom Merhant joined them for lunch before the rains fell. Helping Agnes and Howard Secord enjoy their vacation was their house guest the Senior Mrs. Secord from Milwaukee, Wis. Hawley Reunion Another family reunion was held on Sunday. This one in Madison, Wis., in the John Woodward home. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Hawley of our fair town, along with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Reinwall, Mark and Gary of McHenry joined with the John Woodward family for the gala get-together. Birthday Greetings Dorothy Kay Aissen celebrated her eleventh birthday last Tuesday. Grandma Beatty celebrated her ninety-first. Mike Hogan has reached his sixteenth. Best wishes to all. 500 Club A 1 p.m. dessert luncheon was held in the Mrs. Flora Carr home on Thursday for the 500 club. Mrs. Ruby Shepard was high. Mrs. Bud Whiting was low. Jim Vyduna, after returning from a three week visit with relatives at Barnesville. Minn., has been spending several days with his grandfather, George Vyduna at Long Lake. Liz Schmidt and children of Berwyn and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stahl of Algonquin, surprised Grace Gavin with a visit on Monday. Liz and Grace are friends from grade school days but hadn't seen each other for six years. Sick List A speedy recovery is wished to Wayne Walters who was taken by his family to McHenry hospital due to a back ailment. We are pleased to report Bob Kattner is back to work after a short hospital stay. Barb Zamastil's four week old nephew, Chuck Zimmerman of Lombard, underwent an operation and we hope he is doing fine. Bobby Moore received what might have been a most serious cut from glass in a garage door. It required twenty-eight stitches but the doctor assures Eleanor and Jim that no damage seems to have been done to nerves. Sympathy We wish to extend our sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wadecki of Riverdale on the death of his mother, Mrs. John Wadecki, following a long illness at Weiss Memorial hospital.
