They plan to be married Saturday, Sept. 1, at St. John's church, Johnsburg. Congrat u 1 a t i o n s and much happiness to you both, Rosemary and Howard. Dates to Remember % Now would be an appropriate time to "get out" your date book or calendar and mark three very important and worthwhile occasions. The first of these is: Thursday, Aug. 2, is the evening when we hold our association meeting at Johnsburg public school starting at 8 p.m. I intended to write quite a piece abdut attending this and all meetings but, since I also am an offender this year and have been unable to attend I felt I couldn't do this with a clear conscience. However, I do feel that interagain just as enthusiastic as ever. Wayne Walters, home from the hospital, will be recuperating for a month before returning to work. Those of us who remember Tom Merhaut's father, Louis, a member of the band that played at our spring dances, will be glad to know he is back to work after a long layoff and two trips to the hospital due to heart trouble. Anniversaries Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Weiss and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Merhaut, Aug. 2, and to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Erickson for 10 years on Aug. 3. Anniversary Party Dropping in to help George and Mary Mecko celebrate their twenty-fourth anniversary on July 24 were the Deppm e i r s , G u n t h e r s , H i l l m a n s , Mondls, and Wayne Walters. Birthdays Belated wishes to Millie Mondl, whose birthday was July 30. Many happy returns of the day to Irene Seliga and Jim Deppmeir, Aug. 2, Gary Weiss, Aug. 4, Marty Pritchard and Ed Weiss, Jr., Aug. 5, and Joy Vyduna, Aug. 8. est in our community has dropped bff considerably. How about rectifying this mistake at the afore-mentioned date By attending you may express your ideas, displeasures and maybe we can start off by discussing a picnic for Labor Day. We have not had a get-together for awhile and this always proves a success as far as getting people together. I have it on good authority that the entertainment committee would plan a picnic -- all they need is a 'little help" from everyone, instead of a "great deal" from a few. Let's think about this, and other things of interest to all and come to the meeting. See you there. The next date is Aug. 3, 4 and 5. This weekend St. John's has their annual carnival. It is always a great deal of fun -- beginning with the fish fry on Friday night. There is always plenty of activity to keep the children busy including a variety of rides. Let's all go .and enjoy ourselves -- being close to home should be an incentive. Remember this weekend; The third date is the annual benefit dance sponsored by the Johnsburg Rescue Squad. Need we say more? Certainly, this worthwhile dance , needs no selling -- as the work of the rescue squad is well known and buying tickets for this event is just a little way of saying "thank you" for a job well done. The date is Saturday, Sept. 1, at Johnsburg Memorial hall. It is never too early to buy a ticket for this -- so welcome the volunteers who knocks on your door. Get-togethers Last weekend the Miller home, on Indian Ridge Drive, was bursting at the seams. Marcella welcomed, from Roselle. 111., her daughter and son-in-law, Lou and Buck Ernst, and three daughters, Diane, Lauri Ann and Marcy. Along with them, for an annual reunion, came Lou's Steadfast college friend, Mary Margaret Bibler, her husband, Bob, and their three children, Robert, Jr., Kathy and Tracey. They came up from Lafayette, Ind., to Lou's home and from there up here for the weekend. They had a grand time -- especialty the children on the Ernst' boat. When they left a happy, though perhaps a little weary, Marcella Miller was seen smiling -- remembering all the fun of the weekend and the pleasure of having the two girls togethery again -- reminiscent of their college days! Hank Zeiger's home was also bubbling over with pleasant noises last weekend. Before the rains intervened Sunday -- out of town guests, from Milwaukee, Wis., Philip and Rose Dreeshler, and children, Phyllis and Janet, along with Hank and Adeline, sons, Jerry and David, enjoyed a very tasty barbecue -- picnic style. Let's hope the weather is better this weekend as the Zeiger family is leaving us Sunday for a two week camping trip on camp site on Stormy Lake, Conover, Wis. No comment on the name of the lake!! Accompanying them on this trip will be their friends of long standing, Carl and Lu Frost, sons, Mike, Greg, Brad; and Ad's nephew, Bill Teufert, from Valporaiso, Ind. Happy hunting -- oops --• excuse me, fishing to you all. Happy Occasions The birthday celebrants this week include Joan's dad and a new resident, Albert Holtfodt, on Aug. 6. June and "G. C. Banker, will share the same birthday Aug. 8. Happy birthday to all. Convalescing A little late news to report is that little Heather Siepmai; is doing nicely after her tonsillectomy last week. It won't be long now, Heather, before you will be bouncing around like yourself again. Signing Off You have all been very patient with me the pest two weeks and I am deeply grateful to you for your splendid cooperation in calling in the news. As I said before, the success of this or any other column depends upon our receiving the news. So renwfnber -- next week contaci "your everlovin', regular news reporter, Joan Walczynski."
