To the Trade Fair Les and Carol Venable, Lenny Szarek and Chip Cynowa went to the Trade Fair in Chicago last week Sunday, July 29. Carol tells that she was overjoyed with the entire fair and really never realized the enjoyment one can have by going. The foursome enjoyed the entire day trying to see everything. Passer Through While Les and Carol Venable journeyed to Chicago to the Fair, an old friend dropped by and this reporter had the good fortune to meet and converse with her. She was Les' Auntie Rickett. She was disappointed not to find the young folks at home, but we enjoyed such a wonderful chat that I have determined that Auntie Rickett is the sweetest little lady I have ever had the good fortune to meet. It is too bad that in the world as it , is today there are not more people of this caliber. I found myself completely entranced with a soul of wisdom, peace, and good humor. She should be the nominee for the Aunt of the year award. Out of the Hospital Murl Rosing spent a few days in the McHenry hospital weekend was Grace's sister, Angie Mclntyre. On Sunday her other sister, Babe, and husband, Chuck Salizar, and their two children, Chuckie and Billie, made a surprise visit. Next door neighbors, Janet and Jimmy Steadman, attended the party of Lindy's as well as Janet Hose, and Garry, Melody and Jerry Rotan. Also there were Melody Brossman, Sharon <Miller and brothers, Albert and Mickey. Next on the list of, excite- f ment was Tony's brother, Paul Hirsch, who bicycled all the way from Chicago to come out and spend his vacation with his brother. He telis that the bike ride took him four and onehalf hours, but was well worth the trip. We even heard that Grandma Hirsch was somewhere thereabouts. Mama Ida hurt her ankle pretty badly while she was on vacation but it seems to be getting along pretty good. She d o e s n ' t l o o k t o o g o o d ' i n crutches so she's just hobbling about now. ° Oh, yes, coming up this week --Ida Hirsche's birthday. And meanwhile next door, Grandpa Jim Simmons received a surprise visit from his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. r and Mrs. Mark Taylor, from Lawton, Mich. More news of the South lands. --A warning was issued for children to stay away from the channel while playing. Two mishaps occurred this week, jimmy Steadman fell into the channel but managed to pull himself right out again. They say he looked like a drowned ^ rabbit. The second in the series was Melody Rotan who fell in while playing in a boat. Ida Mirsch heard her screams, for help and left the phone dangling while she ran out and fished her out of the channr1. Parents, please advise the children of the dangers lurking in these waters. They might also give a note of warning as to the hazards of play- ^ ing in boats.
