They did a bit of fishing and Doreen caught her first big one. a Northern Pike, which she was quite proud of. The kids had a wonderful time especially after they found a baby deer and were also able to catch a glimpse of sojne bears coming down to feed nearby. - A little later Doreen had a vacation of her own when she went to visit with her grandmother in Chicago, Mrs. Harriet Egger. She spent the 5 days there constantly surprising her grandmother with all her accomplishments. She was able to cook the meals and help clean and really was a great little worker and finally because she was getting a little homesick she made a necklace for her mother. Day on the Farm Four of our area ladies spent a pleaisant afternoon last week at a nearby farm-restaurantshop. Virginia Verstege, Helen Smith. Stevie Korczyk, and Mildred Snively thoroughly enj o y e d t h e m s e l v e s a s t h e y strolled about the lovely grounds and visited the shops and had their lunch. Their stay was rewarded when they had their faces sketched by a prominent young artist of the area. They were quite pleased with the work and said it gave a remarkable likeness. Camping in Wisconsin The Tanner family had such a wonderful time on their camping trip last weekend that they went again the following week. Their trip took them approximately 300 miles up into Wisconsin at Peninsula State Park, Green Bay. This was Evie's initiation into the life of camping and unsure of the outcome she went prepared for anything. Much to her surprise they had such fun it was such an enjoyable experience for all of them that she is ready for another trip any time. The scenery was georgeous; they found many little winding paths which led them on memorable hiking trips, and the view from lookout tower was breathtaking to behold. In the evenings there were campfires and new found friends to share a pot of coffee and talk. Bob and Evie exclaimed the willingness to help and the friendliness of the people they met who were sharing the same conditions and love of the outdoors. Glenn had his thrill when he was able to go skiing on Lake Michigan and Evie made them all laugh when she caught the first fish -- by the tail. Anniversary Weekend Bill and Nancy Ewald began to feel like a pair of whirlwinds after their anniversary last week. They started off by going down to DeKalb to take a look at the new construction on the university where they had gone. They hadn't been there since graduating and it was quite surprising that so many changes had been made in so short a time. The following day they went to see Nancy's sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Dan Chase, and celebrated again by going out to dinner. PROFEJfTonfll DIRECTORS' KARL R.
